its not a milky color. thats what i thought right away to. i had it running f or like 30 seconds then when i was easing off the gas it died and wouldnt start again

  • cjwrestler69 Dec 07, 2008

when i had it going for that or whatever it was rolling out white smoke

  • cjwrestler69 Dec 07, 2008

so im not sure what that means cuz it wont turn over now but sounds like it wants to

  • cjwrestler69 Dec 08, 2008

ya i removed them and there was no antifreez and just smelled like gas..i should also add when i was trying to start it before there was smoke coming from behind the engine block..if that helps at all ha

  • cjwrestler69 Dec 08, 2008

no it does not...doesnt even sound like it wants to

  • cjwrestler69 Dec 08, 2008

ok so i realized that my battery was dead when i tried starting it without the spark plugs..so i charged it and now it sounds like its turning over but the antifreeze isnt shooting out any of the clyinders...so should i try taking off the wheel and the inner fender cover still?

  • cjwrestler69 Dec 08, 2008

ya i will go out and buy some right now and it is about half full

  • cjwrestler69 Dec 08, 2008

ha we dont have an autozone around here for like 20 miles! stupid i know but i changed the spark plugs and it sounds like it wants to start it turns over and when i put my foot on the gas it sounds like it wants to start but when i let off it slows down

  • cjwrestler69 Dec 08, 2008

ha its alright! and when i pulled them none of them looked white

  • cjwrestler69 Dec 08, 2008

ok i will do man, i appriciate all the help you gave me and i will definatly let you know when i do the test

  • cjwrestler69 Dec 08, 2008

hey, so i did the test and theres compression i guess. i can get it started now but i have to have my foot on the gas, i think that might be the head gasket maybe? and for the smoke that keeps coming out maybe its the heating coil?

  • cjwrestler69 Dec 09, 2008

they had all the same compression..sorry for sending it like 20 times ha..not sure why it did that!

  • cjwrestler69 Dec 09, 2008

yes i do...its coming out all of my vents..only when i turn the heater on though, white smoke barrels out

  • cjwrestler69 Dec 09, 2008

it smells like antifreeze..when you get out you can just taste it to..its kinda like a sweet taste and smell...if that helps lol

  • cjwrestler69 Dec 09, 2008

no it was not i checked

  • cjwrestler69 Dec 09, 2008

it happens when i do both

  • cjwrestler69 Dec 09, 2008

wait wait my mistake..it only does it when the car is running! my bad lol

  • cjwrestler69 Dec 09, 2008

so how do i fix that?

  • cjwrestler69 Dec 09, 2008

change the head gaskets and get a new heater core or what?

  • cjwrestler69 Dec 09, 2008

i have to replace the heads? or just the gaskets?

  • cjwrestler69 Dec 09, 2008

ok thats what i was thinking but you didnt said gasket so i was like dang! lol but by the intake..do you mean the intake gasket or a new intake? it should be easy replacing cuz its only a 4 cylinder and as for the heater core theres a place around here would i could pick oen up for like 10 bucks

  • cjwrestler69 Dec 09, 2008

which intake set though? like what intake set are you refering to?

  • cjwrestler69 Dec 09, 2008

are you taling about the air intake or the exhaust intake?

  • cjwrestler69 Dec 09, 2008

ok ya i just wanst sure what you ment by intake set ha, but ya that should run me about 200 bucks right?

  • cjwrestler69 Dec 09, 2008

ok that sounds good man, i appriciate everything that you have done for me. not only has it saved me time but it will save me money. i will get those parts replace them and get back to you on how it changed. thank you again for everything!

  • cjwrestler69 Dec 09, 2008

alright ya will do! but you said you found a head set for 210..where at? all the ones ive found are about 240

  • kelvin smotherman May 11, 2010

let me know and we can go from there.

  • kelvin smotherman May 11, 2010

The next step will be pulling the spark plugs to check them for antifreeze . with the white smoke it sounds like it going to be a head or intake gasket. let me know what find with plugs

just seen the part about not turning over once you remove spark plugs the motor will probable turn over if it dose its going to shoot antifreeze out of at least 1 or more of the clylinder most of the time the front of motor by radiator..

  • kelvin smotherman Dec 08, 2008

dose the motor turn over now with plugs out

  • kelvin smotherman Dec 08, 2008

not looking good.1 last ting to do .remove passenger tire.. remove cover inner fender well plastic so you can get to front of engine with 1/2 in..., ratchet or breaker bar and socket try turning over motor with the big bolt in center of crankshaft let me know ..think i know what the answer is going to be..hope im wrong.....

  • kelvin smotherman Dec 08, 2008

no need for that when you said it wont turn over thought the might be locked up ..this so much easier when im looking at a car instead of this way..since it hasnt been any of these yet..I would put a new set of plugs and try starting...sometimes after overheating a motor just a fresh set plug will help and check your radiator let me know how much antifreeze is in it.

  • kelvin smotherman Dec 08, 2008

one other thing you shoud do while you got the plugs out run a compression check. if you dont have a conpression gauge ..autozone has loaner tools you can use for free ..you just have a small deposit you get it back when you bring it back ..good deal.. let me know how it goes

  • kelvin smotherman Dec 08, 2008

sorry for taking so long to get site is running slow tonight.you need to do compression check all clyinders should read about 180 lbs or close to that. when you pulled the plugs did any look real clean or white...

  • kelvin smotherman Dec 08, 2008

when you do the compression test let not much more i can do without that . let me know and we can start again...

  • kelvin smotherman Dec 09, 2008

did all the clyinder have the same compression ? or did some have lower readings.

  • kelvin smotherman Dec 09, 2008

not the head gasket. if it was you will have alower reading on one of the cly.were all the compression resdings about 180 lbs

  • kelvin smotherman Dec 09, 2008

you have smoke ? where is it coming from

  • kelvin smotherman Dec 09, 2008

ok that something ive never seen.does it smell like something burning or like antifreeze ?

  • kelvin smotherman Dec 09, 2008

is the carpet on the passenger side wet with antifreeze?

  • kelvin smotherman Dec 09, 2008

was the car running when the smoke comes out or by turning the blower on and car not running?

  • kelvin smotherman Dec 09, 2008

now it all makes sense... head gasket went bad between the cly. and the water jacket which puts more pressure in cooling system then heater core failed antifreeze is in your heater box thats has a seal around it .thats why they it didnt leak out onto carpet and the antifreeze in the heater box is getting into the blower motor thats causing the smoke when when you turn it on.........

  • kelvin smotherman Dec 09, 2008

just like a puzzle need all the pieces.. good news we know the promblems .. bad news alot of work ahead...have to pull intake ...heads and replace heater core and should replace water pump too ... your looking at about $350- $ 400 in parts and about 2-3 days of work depending on your skill level. not a easy job ... a shop will charge about $1500

  • kelvin smotherman Dec 09, 2008

the gaskets .. the heads should be ok since there was no antifreeze in oil..if you go to ebay you you can get the head gasket and you can get the intake set for less then 1/2 the price of what parts stores are

  • kelvin smotherman Dec 09, 2008

in that case get the head gasket set it will come with intake set. i thought it was a 6 not that anything would have changed in what we did ... it just going to cost you a lot less for parts and a whole lot easiser to work . now that i know that if you have over 100000 miles on you should change the timing belt on since you will have apart..........

  • kelvin smotherman Dec 09, 2008

just tell them you want a head gasket set .................it will come with a head gasket......... a intake gasket ...... a exahaust gasket .. and a valve cover gasket ....

  • kelvin smotherman Dec 09, 2008

$210 for head set... $105 timing belt... $ 50 water pump

  • kelvin smotherman Dec 09, 2008

looked on ebay no deal on that set they were higher.if you have any problems let me know...please dont forget to rate this ... thanks

  • kelvin smotherman Dec 09, 2008

autozone i know not close.... thats what they were on ebay$245

Why is white smoke issuing from exhaust?

White smoke is coolant burning. Check radiator for oil and check oil cap for foam if you have one or both not good.

What caused white smoke from exhaust?

Generally, white smoke is engine coolant burning. If it only happened for a few seconds, you may have leaked some on the exhaust pipes.
I would check the engine oil and coolant levels with the engine cold, and then look for coolant leaks.

Your heater core is shot. Coolant leaking on the floor (wet) and driping onto exhaust (smoke).
Replacement of the heater core is the only proper fix. As a temporary measure , you could disconnect the hoses that run to it , and plug them (or join them together). Engine will run , but you will have NO heat in car. enough of your coolant has probably leaked out to cause engine problems. Make sure it is refilled and air removed from system before driving.

Your heater core is leaking. if it was left disconnected the engine coolant would have come out immediately upon starting the engine the very first time..

I have a 2002 Buick Century and soon after I start it white smoke comes out of the exhuast pipe. I don't believe coolant is getting in to the oil, so I was just wondering if I can keep driving the car...

If the white smoke comes out for 15 to 30 seconds your engine is ok. Condensation does build up inside the engine and as well as the exhaust and will burn out in that amount of time. If the white smoke is continuely extracted from the exhaust pipe you do have coolant leaking through the head gasket

1999 ford expendition has smoke coming out of the vent

If it is a kind of sweet smell then your heater core needs to be replaced. It's leaking and you should keep an eye on your coolant level until you get it fixed. The smoke is coolant. Hope this helps.

Little plume of white smoke coming from engine when idling only. Runs great and not overheating. Really bad smell coming through vents with AC on

A little white smoke is OK from 0-15 minutes of start up.

After warm up the condensation inside the exhaust pipe AND under the hood should be purged.

How many mile is on the engine?

A well care for engine should not have to worry about leaky (pin hole leak) head gasket until 120,000 miles.

The other sources of coolant leak is the freeze plugs.

DO NOT WAIT! Take 15-20 minutes out of your schedule and see where is it leaking on the idle.

it can be at

heater hoses
water pump
freeze plugs
and head gasket

I would start monitoring the coolant consumption by making the coolant reservoir tank.

Keep tab on oil level.

====

The common A/C air vent odor are

coolant leak (even pin hole leak) on the heater core.

KEEP CHECKING the center to passenger floor carpet for wetness and smell of coolant.

and/or

mold in side the air tube vent.
there is cleaner spray you can buy to keep the mold.

Your auto is definitely loosing coolant and will overheat. Check your thermostat, hoses, belts, radiator cap and water pump. If you do not fix the leak or coolant circulation problem you can destroy your engine. The smell inside can be being picked up from the outside vent or it could be your heater core inside the ventillation area leaking (which could be your coolant leak).. If that is the case you will need to replace the heater core.
