I am doing intake gaskets right now on an expedition and you have to look carefully around and take your time and you will find what is holding you up from taking it out because nowhere in the book does it state you had to take the two bolts out for the thermastat housing on the expedition that I am working on you can also go to auto zone and they can give you a diagram because you will need the torque specs anyways

Bolt torque specifications for the intake manifold on a 1992 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera s v6 3.3 liter

Hi,with the inlet manifold as long as the two serfices are clean and the gaskets are being replaced, all you need to do is tighten all the bolts all the way home, right when you feel that the bolt is fully home then tihten it another quarter of a turn, then tighten every bolt this way and there wont be a problem.
I have never used torque settings for manifolds and never in my 30 years of working on cars had a problem with water leaks from the inlet maifold.
well hope this was some use to you all the best and good luck with the rest of the work you are doing.

Replace the plugs, wires, maybe the coil pack. Run a can of BG 44k in the gas tank with a full tank of gas should clean out the fuel system. Replace the fuel filter as well. May need a new intake manifold gasket, or even the exhaust manifold gaskets.

1989 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera leaks oil on back side of motor. Where are the possible locations of this leak?

that all depends on how high the leak comes from, it could be from the intake manifold gasket if its high up on the motor,, a little lower would be around the bearing seals , and lower yet could be the pan gaskets ,, keep in mind that a lot of wind is generated when the motor is running at high speed, and a leak from the front of the motor could be blown to the back very easily.

I need to replace an intake gasket on a 95 oldsmobile cutlass ciera 3100 v6 front wheel drive. Any sugestions on how to remove the old gasket?

If you have never done this before, get a manual such as haynes. There's just too much to write out instructions here. When doing the job, make sure that you drain coolant first, and remove any debris that falls into engine after the intake is off. Regardless of how careful you are, some will remain so I recommend that after it's back together, run for about 1/2 hr then change engine oil.
good luck....If you need assistance with any specific problem along the way post back!!!

You need to access from outside the vehicle. You have to remove the shroud that is inside of the wheel well. It is not a very easy task I hope this helps.

Thermostaat

first of all you open the hood and you can see the upper radiator hose follow that to the engine block for safety this is something you want to do when the car is cool after you follow the hose remove the screws there should be only 2 one on each side of hose and take it off the thermastat should be inside and make sure you put the new one in back the same way you took the old one out
