The accumulator or dryer looks like a long cylinder, it has a pressure switch on it and two wires attached to it. pull the wired molex off, with the ac set on max cooling, jump out the two wires with a wire or paperclip, if the clutch on the ac compressor engages, check the cab to see if its cooling, if it does cool the switch needs to be replaced, if it does not cool, you may need freon, and there could be a sign of a leak in your system, that can be best checked with ac manifold guages. the low pressure switch is there for safety if the canistor or accumulator is low or has no freon the switch opens up and keeps the clutch from running so that the compressor will not burn up. good luck!

That would be the fan clutch on the compressor itself... if it wont take a charge with all setting on high and running then you'll need to get it replaced , have a specialist inspect it to make sure the innards of the compresor arent junk...I have same pronblem with my 97 z28.. but it will take a charge and last 3 months then i have to recharge...The clutch and innards of my compressor are going bad..So its a chevy known issue,,,best of luck...Ohh one more thing do you hear a hiss when you turn it off and on, the ac that is

try removing the plug off the low pressure switch on the accumalator plug a paper clip into the plug and turn ac on if it comes on then your low pressure switch is bad or your low on refigerant.

SOURCE: 1995 z-28. air conditioner compressor won't kick

Your A/C pressure switch may have gone bad or the wire harness to it may have gone bad. The switch is along the low pressure line or on the A/C Accumulator ( looks like a silver canister) , Unplug the wire and you can jump it there and see if the clutch comes on, if it does try spreading the two tabs apart on the switch and clipping the wire back on. If it does not come back on you need to replace the switch, you can do it with out loosing to much R134A. Just got to be quick when you  remove the old one and placing the new one. The low side should have a reading of 30PSI to 50PSI and the high side should have 150PSI to 200PSI. Any other reading will give you poor A/C performance. Good luck and hope this helps.

My air condition work only when I hot wire the compressor clutch. Otherwise it not engaging when I turn on the ac.

You have to insert a can of R134A refrigerant and hose on the low pressure port.
Normally it is the fatter of the two hoses coming from the compre3ssor.It should then kick in with the A/C switch engaged.
If not you may have a bad fuse, switch, compressor,or relay.

Ac compressor wont kick on when running air Full of refrigerate to! jumper wire to compressor and ran! What is it Ac relay or wiring?

It could be the fuse, climate control, switch, or relay.
If you check at the switch, that will also tell you if the fuse might be bad.
Then if you check at the relay, that will tell you if the climate control is bad.

My husbands 93 park ave ac compressor is not running, when he relplaced the ac relay it worked one time and then no longer works. There doesn't seem to be any power getting to the compressor, could there...

If it has the auto air functions. On the passenger side under glovebox remove the black cover under the dash and there is a hidden fuse block with a ac fuse. Check for this a very common issue. Also if the ac is fully charged you can unplug the low pressure switch located on the accumulator( silver canister located by the relays towards the firewall) and take a wire and place between the two terminals just make sure the compressor will does come on.If the ac is turned on and you jump that switch and the compressor does turn and ac starts working then a good possibilty that the low pressure may be bad. Would check the fuse first.

Can some post the 1999 gmc sierra wiring diagram

you don't have enough pressure in your system. odds are you have a leak someplace and the factory installed a saftey switch to keep the ac from running when there is no pressure. This way you don't end up burning up your compressor.

Air Conditioning

If you have no power (12v) to the power wire at the A/C compressor clutch and have jumpered all of the switches then you need to check for power coming out of the A/C switch on the dash. Also there might be a pressure switch on the back of the compressor that you can jumper also. You can also check A/C compressor relay in the under hood fuse/relay box. There might be a fuse in the under hood fuse/relay box for the A/C too. Hope this helps.

Ac doesn't work

There is a low limit switch and when the Freon is too low, it opens and wont let the compressor come on.
