Rattling sound when accelerating on 2007 Forester

Hi. I recently moved to Vienna, VA. I recently getting a rattling, clicking sound when I accelerate on my 2007 Forestor coming from the engine from a stop postion. Any other subaru forester owner experience a similar noise? If so, what is causing this rattling/clicking sound as I accelerate from stop position. Thanks. I'm going to the local dealership since my car is under warranty, but just curious what's causing it beforehand. Hi.  We just bought a subaru forester (2001) and on the way home we found this rattling noise but it happened only when we were decelerating.  When we put some some acceleration on, the noise stops.  We are baffled by this...any help?

On mine, I got under there and there are rocks rattling in the heat shield. There are factory made holes in it, and the rocks sit in there like eggs in a carton and rattle when the engine hits a certain vibration frequency which is basically when it is at a stop light or idling. The repair shop wanted to charge to cut them off but I think I am going to drill bigger holes so the rocks fall out, as they are pretty tiny.

Hi
hard to say - could be a bad knock sensor/ECU allowing too much spark
advance? Could just be something loose, bad timing belt tensioner,
piston slap, stuck lifter

I wouldn't delay having it examined.

let us know

I notice the clicking/rattling sound when the engine accelerates, even when
warmed up. Especially when I stop at a stop sign, and then accelerate I hear
this clicking/rattling inaddition to the normal engine hums as it
accelerates. Sound sort of like if you had something lose rattling along,
even when warmed up or cold engine. I notice it only when stop and go. I
don't hear it when I'm going along the highway steady, but that could be due
to highway road noise masking it. Not really loud at all, but noticeable
now, just a weird rattling/clicking like something loose rattling along when
I accelerate. Even when engine is cold or warm, I hear the rattling at stop
    and go acceleration.

.so I???ve been reading around about this rattle noiceseems like
alot of Subaru owners report rattling heat shields. It is caused by
the heat shield either becoming loose and rattling against the exhaust
or rocks/debris getting between the shield and the exhaust.

Cures include clamping the heat shields down or taking them off.

Does this sound like the right track?

This Sound is called "dieseling" and is more common in older vehicles although I have heard it in newer ones as well. The culprit is running too high of octane fuel whic causes a problem by the name of pre-ignition. Pre-ignition happens when you have too high of an octane fuel for the motor you are running. Lowering the octane level usually fixes this. This will help! Lancer721

Is there any information about the window gussets for the 2007 Forester? My friend warned me about the rattle before I bought it. My has already rattled.I talked to other owners with the same problem,...

window gussets rattling? are you talking about the rubber piece behind the outside mirrors? if there is any concern with these gussets cousing a rattle i've never heard of it,when the gusset goes bad or gets deformed they cause a wind noise while driving, air seeps between the gusset and the weatherstrip, gussets deform over time because the window rides up it,the gusset actually moves back and forth against the weatherstrip due to the window constantly putting pressure on it when it rises and lowers hope this helps,by the way this is a easy fix,if this is the concern, roll the window down, open door and push mirror toward weatherstrip,if it doesn't correct you'll need a new gusset
