What is order of troubleshoot for cylinder misfire P305?

Possible causes
- Faulty spark plug 5
- Clogged or faulty fuel injector 5
- Faulty ignition coil 5
- Fuel injector 5 harness is open or shorted
- Fuel injector 5 circuit poor electrical connection
- Ignition coil 5 harness is open or shorted
- Ignition coil 5 circuit poor electrical connection
- Insufficient cylinder 5 compression
- Incorrect fuel pressure
- Intake air leak
What does this mean? What does this mean?
Tech notes
The P0305 code means that the cylinder 5 is misfiring or is randomly misfiring. Start by checking for intake leaks an if no leaks are found the next step is to replace the spark plugs on cylinder 5. If the problem persist more tests needs to be done to diagnose problem, see "Possible Causes"
What does this mean? What does this mean?
When is the code detected?
Engine Cylinder 5 is Misfiring.
Possible symptoms
- Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
- Lack/loss of power
- Hard start
- Engine hesitation
P0305 Jaguar Description

When a misfire occurs, engine speed will fluctuate. If the engine speed fluctuates enough to cause the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor signal to vary, the Engine Control Module (ECM) can determine that a misfire is occurring.

I have a 2001 ford focus, my wife spilt water on the gear shifter and now the overdrive light will not go off even if the button is pushed

First of all...water and electrical connections don't mix well. Since the overdrive button is located on the left side of the shifter, and your wife spilled water on the shifter, the water has likely caused an electrical short.

With the ignition key off, try using compressed air to blow out any possible water or moisture around the shifer button and at the base of the shifter itself. Since the overdrive button has electrical connections inside the shifter, the water has probably caused a short. (I repeat...water and electrical connections don't mix well) If this doesn't cure the problem, you may need to disassemble the shifter mechanism and check for water or moisture. The electrical connections or wiring may be wet inside the shifter, which is likely causing the problem. Blow the areas out with compressed air and make sure everything is clean and dry. Then reassemble the shifter mechanism and reheck to see if this cures the problem.

Good Luck!

Brake lights don't work when headlights are on. When brake is pressed turn signals go fast and when brake is pressed when headlights are on they are so dim you can't see them plus turn signals...

{: ) Looks like your lightings got haywired. Have you had vehicle repairs recently? Anyway, it seems that you have poor grounding connections for the affected lightings. Some circuits share common ground, and ground terminals are strategically distributed on the vehicle. If these grounds don't have good contact with the body, chassis, or engine ground, circuit functions are badly affected. Thats why these ground points should be inspected and kept clean and tight, maintain that good wire and terminal contacts.
We can start with G100 located at the Left Front of the Engine Compartment on the left front body mount. See diagram below:

wyet_helps_24.gif Check out also G401 which is located in the chassis harness, mounted to the left rear Body mount. This ground point is shared by the rear lamps like the brakes, reverse, and rear signal lamps.
If possible check also other ground points that you may visually come across while on your search. Be sure also that fuses are all inspected good.
I hope we get lucky in finding and fixing a certain lamp function, if not all. Goodluck.

1994 jimmy 4.3 vortec has a stumble right off of idle when accelerating and a hesitation once and awhile at random spaads ussually under load any suggestions?

Do you have an O2 sensor code that would explain a random miss?
Does it happen cold or hot? Have you checked the spark from the coil?

Diagnosis Before beginning any diagnosis and testing procedures, visually inspect the components of the ignition system and engine control systems. Check for the following:
  • Discharged battery
  • Damaged or loose connections
  • Damaged electrical insulation
  • Poor coil and spark plug connections
  • Ignition module connections
  • Blown fuses
  • Damaged vacuum hoses
  • Damaged spark plugs
Check the spark plug wires and boots for signs of poor insulation that could cause crossfiring. Make sure the battery is fully charged and that all accessories are off during diagnosis and testing. Make sure the idle speed is within specification. If an open or ground in the Ignition Control (IC) circuit occurs during engine operation, then engine will continue to run, but using a back-up timing mode (controlled by the ICM) based on preset timing values. The Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) or SERVICE ENGINE SOON light will not illuminate at the first appearance of a break in the circuit. However, if the IC fault is still present once the engine is restarted, a Code 42 will set on OBD 1 systems in the PCM and the MIL will illuminate. Poor performance and fuel economy may be noticed while the engine is running under back-up timing. When attempting to search for ignition troubles, keep in mind the various sensor inputs which the PCM uses to calculate timing may affect engine performance. The PCM will alter timing based on sensor inputs as follows:
  • Low MAP output voltage = More spark advance
  • Cold engine = More spark advance
  • High MAP output voltage = Less spark advance
  • Hot engine = Less spark advance
With this in mind, DETONATION could be caused by low MAP output or high resistance in the coolant sensor circuit. POOR PERFORMANCE could be caused by a high MAP output or low resistance in the coolant sensor circuit.

TRANSMISSION..KEEPS SLIPPING OUT OF GEAR ..AUTOMATIC

The automatic transaxels in Hyundai Vehicles are electronically controlled by the transaxel range switch and the various solenoids inside the trans. The only 'mechanical' control is the shifter cable connected between the shifter inside the vehicle & its connection to the trans range switch on top of the transmission. Did the 'Check Engine' Light come ON? Whenever the 'CHECK ENGINE' (Service Engine Soon) light comes on, the ECU (Engine Control Unit) sets a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC). These codes identify the particular powertrain management system which caused the light to come on. You'll need to use/find an OBDII (On-Board Diagnostic) Scanner to retrieve any code which have been stored in the ECU computer. Afterward, we might be able to help you DIAGNOSE the problem and perhaps eventually fix the problem.
