Volvo 940 Alarm will not de-activate

For many years I had my 1994 940 with alarm set to Service Mode and stopped using the remote control. Suddenly when changing the battery after an alternator fault the alarm has re- activated and despite changing the batteries in the remote will not de-activate hence car is unuseable. Any ideas?? The Alarm on my Mercedes ML320 sounded every night, then it started doing it more often, Showed it to the dealer he says it's the 'Tow Sensor', that needs to be repaced. $700, down the drain. I have already started hating this car, it eats $500-600, every 6 months...

What is the valet button located inside of glove compartment used for

It is used for programing the alarm, it is used to disarm the alarm without the remote, [in case remote is damaged] and it is used to put alarm system into valet mode, [service mode] valet mode is only really needed if the alarm has been programed for passive arming, [alarm arms itself].

Your main use for the valet switch, [if programed for active arming instead of passive arming] is to have a way to disarm the alarm if the remote does not work.

I have seen this work in the past. When you hook up the battery, the alarm sound, correct? MY 94 850 VOLVO WILL NOT START NEW BATTERY AND STARTER IT DID WORK AFTER THE STARTER WAS INSTALLED BUT THE PERSON THAT BROUGHT IT BACK STATED THAT SHE HEARD THE ALARM CHERP THEN IT WOULDNT START (DO YOU...

replace remote battery to make sure, but if alarm is activated it continous to chirp the alarm or if your alarm system is set by the manufacturer try to relearn the program, if all fuse are ok, and your remote lock/unlock is work, check for lose ground connection, if remote is not working, replace the battery then try to do this. swtch ignition in 10 seconds to on-off-on-off-on-off-on-off-on wait 30 seconds, press any button of the remote once, turn igniton off, after 30 seconds start the car, if not go to the nearest service center to check the troublecodes

My Volvo S60 Fuel flap won't lock or unlock,

The pin solenoid that activates the remote locking is not receiving any electrical signal, it must have been unhooked. This solenoid is right by the filler door, inside the boot. The alarm activates on electrical differences, such as dome light, boot light or filler door electrical demand when it is activated. Hence, the alarm wont trip off if door is opened manually from the outside.

I have a 1999 jeep grand cherokee. the alarm goes off whenever i open the door if the vehicle has been locked the alarm stops when i start the vehicle i only have a key, no remote any ideas on how to fix...

If ithe alarm is factory when they will have to reset the alarm module with a scanner. If the alarm if aftermarket go to the control module and see if it has a reset button. FOBs (remote) can reset alarm. You Jeep is always set for break-in mode. The FOB sets this when ever the FOB is used to lock the doors. May be bad alarm module - Sorry - Good luck

Jag S-Type -intermitent fault where the remote fob does not work

This does not sound like a fob fault - but a locking control module fault , either in the hardware or software of the unit. Get it checked at a Jaguar dealers. When unlocking using the key - as soon as the door is opened you should hear a chime sounding inside the car - this is a timer counting down to sounding the alarm. If you put your key in the ignition as soon as you open the door the alarm should not go off and the chime should stop. If it does not this again points to a fault in the locking controller.
hope this helps - good luck.
