Question about 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee

1 Answer

1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee Orvis 5.2L V8 will crank but not start.

My 1995 jeep will crank but takes several tries before it will turn over. All electricals seem to be functioning normally and the battery appears to be fully charged. When I try to start it it cranks quite strongly but will not turn over. Depending on the temperature it could either not start completely or take 5-10 or so tries to finally start. I am leaning towards a possible fuel pump issue but am not sure as it does turn over in the end.

Fuel delivery is influenced by engine temperature sensor. (sometimes a seperate unit from gauge sensor). Since you did not mention any performance problems after starting or on hot re-starts, that's where I'd look first!

Take a look inside the changer with the holder removed and clean any contacts you see. There also needs to be the proper amount of electronic lube inside.
Using a CD lens cleaner is also something to try.

I have one '98 GC 5,2L V8 and remember that the first time I put a CD in my changer it read error, even though it was loaded properly. After pulling out and replacing the holder once or twice it played fine.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I'll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using Fixya, and have a nice day.

Speedometer does not always work 95 cherokee orvis need help

Sounds like the speedo sensor needs to be replace on the transmission. I've had a similar problem with my Jeep with the sopeedo not working then work after the tranny heats up then after a period of time the needle started to jump when at 100 km or 60 mph. I changed the sensor and the problem went away. Good luck!

Speedometer does not always work HELP 1995 jeep cherokee orvis

The vehicle speed sensor and speedometer are one in the same on this model I believe. If one goes out it takes the other with it if its all electronic and not cable driven.
