How do I replace a broken tail light?

I've unscrewed the 4 bolts in the back of the light and I can't get it loose. Am I missing a bolt or is there a way I can pop it out without breaking it?

If it's a tail light housing that broke, and not the bulb that simply burnt out, i'm afraid your solution isn't that simple. you have to at least loosen the bumper on the side that the tail light need be replaced. which will include removing the mud flap on that side of the car, removing all the clips on the bottom of the bumper, and removing the two bolts behind the quarter sized plastic covers just inside the trunk lid.

You have to open the trunk and remove the carpet from the inside and you will see the bolts from the backside holding the light on. Remove these nuts and slowly pull the light out and you will see that the bulbs are being held in. You have to turn the lights counter clockwise and pull the lights out of the taillight. Jus push replace with new light and do the steps in reverse to put back on! Enjoy

Tail light not working. Signal light, brake, and flasher works.

Double check the harness going to the tail lights for burned wires due to daytime running lights and check the bulb socket for signs of burned contacts. Clean the contacts with small flat file then try the new bulbs again. Also, check the eltrical flow to the bulbs (ground and positive flow). After elimating no issues with wires or contacts and and problem with flow test the fuse then check the actual headlight switch assembly. Hope all this info helps, sorry I am out of order on a lot of it.

I can not find the fuse for this 1998 Acura 3.2 TL tail light. The tail lights are on and wont go off!

IF THE TAIL LIGHTS ARE ON, IT IS NOT THE FUSE, I GUARANTEE IT.
I suspect that either your parking light switch has failed, or your brake lights are stuck on due to a defective brake light switch.

89 acura legend tail lights stuck on. how to fix?

Tail lights or brake lights? Most common is the brake light switch stopper breaks off so the brake light switch doesn't shut off. This is above the brake pedal. Look on the floor for small broken plastic pieces. The stopper is only a few dollars, pretty easy to pop in place.

Tail lights not working

Did you check your switch for your tail lights. You need to probe the wires from the switch to make sure you have power coming out of the switch.

Use a coin to remove the plastic fasteners on the lip of the trunk. Pull back the cardboard/carpeting and you can get to the bulbs.

LED Brake Lights diming

I had the same problem with my 2004 TL, and it was the brake light switch. It is very easy to replace. (10 min) I ordered one from Rockauto.com for only $6.95. To replace: Remove the black cover under the steering wheel, down by the fuses (held in place by rubber pins and clips - no screws) Locate the switch on the arm of the brake pedal. Unplug the switch, twist the old switch out and install the new one - it's simple!
