Question about 2005 BMW 3 Series

I have a 2001 bmw 318 and a month or so ago i noticed a problem with it. when it was first started and driven it would struggle to pick up any speed but one it warmed up it was fine however now it struggles all the time to pick up speed any ideas

Hi.
I have a similar car with similar problem. My engine light is on and my mechanic says it has a faulty Mass Airflow Sensor (MAF). If you unplug the sensor cable you will notice a big difference in accelaration.

I have bmw 316i (98)not picking up speed like it should be. there is no engine light on on the panel,few days ago i disconnect the abs sensor because it show always light on the cluster after reset its ok...


this model is notorius for splits in the big flexi rubber hose between the air flow meter and the inlet system, the hose is constantly being stretched and compressed as the engine moves about, check all round it

Get a professional to do it they break easily when trying to move them. Just go to a garage tow it if you think it will overheat and cuse your engine to boil itself

Without seeing the car, sounds like the fan motor or final stage resistor for blow motor is bad.

The 3 series suffer badly from camshaft sensors and on your vehicle crankshaft too. Replace all three sensors and your problems are gone. You will notice that the old sensors have a step in them while the new modified ones dont, good luck
