I have a 2000 gmc 1500 z71 and my 4x4 indicators cuts in and out and so do my turn signals they just stop working then will start working again worse on rainy days and ideas

Sounds like you have a lose ground , both turn/ hazards an 4X4 switch share Ground G203 .
G203
On the left upper IP at the A pillar
(1) Splice Pack 203 (SP203) (2) Ground 203 (G203) (3) Dash (4) A-Pillar
You will need to take parts of your instrument panel apart to get at it.

2000 chevy siverado z71 4x4 not working

Yes we can ! With the light on and or flashing , DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes are stored in the 4X4 control module . Have the codes check , not at auto zone or any other parts stores . There code reader tool will not pull this codes . Need to take to a qualified repair shop . Testing also needs to done , not guessing an throwing parts at it . This 4X4 system can set a number of codes .

DTC C0387 Unable to Perform Shift
Circuit Description
The transfer case encoder is a switch that converts a shaft position, representing a mode or range position, into electrical signals for use by the transfer case shift control module. The encoder houses 4 Hall effect sensors that are used for channels P, A, B, and C. These sensors provide a path to ground, when a magnet, (part of the Motor Encoder), passes over them.
The transfer case shift control module supplies an 8 V reference and a ground circuit for the encoder hall effect sensors to function.
The transfer case shift control module supplies current limited 5 V on all the channels, thus as these channels are pulled to ground, the module can interpret the location of the transfer case shift position.
This DTC detects that the transfer case is unable to successfully complete a shift to a requested mode or range.

Last season my 4x4 was working now this year I went to put it in 4x4 and it did not light up or engage. What should i do first? 96 z71

does this trk have the push type or dial selector switch, or is it a manual floor shift like my 90 gmc? If its elec i would look for a fuse source first then i would go down below and check for power on the selector selonoid actuator then i would check for power at switch selectors, maybe they are just sticky or stuck from not being used. the light works off the lower switch sensors not the dash switches so untill it engages the ligh will not light. get them to engage first the worry about light if needed. And ALWAYS put trk 4x4 on through out the summer season on a dirt road or a grassy field just so they keep working. I even run my air cond once a month in winter so it keeps fresh and working, and knock on wood i never have had problems
