Question about 2003 Dodge Caravan

1 Answer

Driving to work I lost power and saw my tach drop. stepping on foot feed occasionally bumped it back up but not much or for long. It then died and wont start. The engine will try to turn over but doesnt seem to fire. Im guessing fuel pump. Also where is the fuel pump on a 2000 grand caravan

Tach. drop's to zero while driving 70 ?

I have had the almost same problem twice. A 'thump', like the engine missed a fire and tach drops. Seems OK after restart. Electrical? Timing chain slip?

2000 Dodge Cummins is blowing fuse on the starter solenoid. Also, tach goes to zero and back up to normal until truck warms up. Noticed a momentary hesitation at highway speed once or twice while driving...

wire that goes to the starter not the main wire there is a smaller wire that sends electric from the switch to the starter solinoid might be shorting out (skinned wire between the starter and the ignition switch/fusebox

Car tach jumps and cover of air filter blew off.

It sounds like the engine "backfired" and blew the cover off. This and having the tach "jumping" means that the engine timing is erratic. This can be caused by the crankshaft position sensor or the ignition module. It could also be cross firing at the coil pack,if so equipped. Make sure all of the wiring to these components is good.
