Check Engine warning light come on when towing uphill.

The check engine light will come on when the management computer detects a fault that can affect exhaust emissions. When that happens the computer switches to a get you home programme and records a fault code.

A code read is required to discover the fault which should then be verified by independent tests before wasting money chasing down blind alleys.

You need to check for tow things first check oil level and its reapilty second you need to check oil volve and oil pump

Check engine light comes on and off, these are indication that there is some error code stored in your vehicles ECM. The engine module computer needs to be scanned. These will give the code and as per the error code the further problem can be detected and confirmed. The engine light indicator blinks or remains steady on dash when engine computer noticed any problem with any engine electrically operated components.

As we tell everyone else who comes on here with warning lights: When there's a warning light on, that means a trouble code is stored in the computer. Don't ask us to guess what caused the light to go on when all you have to do is get the trouble codes read.

If you are "lugging" the engine, you will get increased exhaust temperature (EGT), this will trigger your "turbo" light(not a good thing), ideally you should have an aftermarket "pyrometer" fitted to your car, this will show you the optimum revs etc you should be using in any given circumstance.Or revise your driving technique, ie change down gears earlier.
The turbo should be idled down after long trips or heavy towing, this allows the oil temps to stabilise and turbine speeds to stabilise, thus idle for 2-5 minutes.

I have had the same problem on several chevrolets in the past. The problem was either a broke rocker on the valve trane or the most common is a flat cam lobe. A flat cam lobe will not let the valve open fully or not at all.
