Question about Dodge Ram 3500

2003 dodge ram 3500 4x4. low beam RF works no LF; high beam RF out, LF works. turn signals onlr RR works no LF,RR,RF. quickflash on dashboard

    i have the exact same problem, any other idea on what the problem is other then all of the light bulbs going dead in the exact same place at the exact same time?

First thing to do, go with the replacement of the light bulbs, high beam and low beam are two different fillaments on the ligh bulb, as for the rear also replace the bulbs, when your flasher rellay flashes faster, it means that there is less drop of current in the circuit, like only one light bulb working.

Your headlamps , instrument cluster lights , warning lights , gauges etc... are all computer controlled in some way . Could have DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes stored in various modules on your vehicle ! That is always the first place to start. This problem if no DTC'S are stored , checking the affected electrical circuits for shorts , opens , high resistance etc... would be a good next step . Also checking power and grounds of controlling module , in this case the BCM - body control module .

The body control module (BCM) applies a pulse width modulated (PWM) voltage to the headlamp module and high beam relay in the underhood fuse block. The ground for the headlamp module is supplied from G113 or G115. For normal manual low beam operation when the headlamp switch is place in the HEAD position, ground from G202 is applied through the headlamp switch and to the BCM through the headlamp switch headlamps ON signal circuit. The BCM then applies a PWM voltage to the headlamp module/high beam relay voltage supply circuit. The headlamp module then applies battery positive voltage through the left front (LF) and right front (RF) LO Beam fuses to the left and right low beam headlamps. The ground for the left headlamps is supplied by G101 and the ground for the right headlamp is supplied by G100.
For high beam operation, ground is applied at all times to the headlamp dimmer switch from G202. When the headlamp dimmer switch is placed in the HIGH position, ground is then applied through the headlamp dimmer switch signal circuit to the BCM. The BCM then applies a ground to the headlamp high beam relay control circuit. This energizes the HI Beam relay, the relay then applies battery positive voltage through the LF and RF HI BEAM fuses to the LF and RF high beam headlamps. The ground for the left headlamps is supplied by G101 and the ground for the right headlamp is supplied by G100.
The BCM then sends a class 2 message to the instrument cluster in order to illuminate the high beam indicator lamp. If the headlamp switch is left in the HEAD position, the inadvertent power control feature will turn OFF the headlamps after 10 minutes after you turn the ignition switch to the OFF position. If you place the headlamp switch in the head position after the ignition switch has been turned OFF, or if the ignition switch is in ACCY position, the headlamps will remain ON until you turn them OFF or until the battery runs dead.

Turn signals do not work, have replaced module, still do not work


Find a wiring diagram an get a DVOM - digital volt ohm meter an do some electrical testing . Videos on you tube on basic automotive electrical testing , how to read a wiring diagram . Then go http://bbbind.com/free_tsb.html free wiring diagrams . What component controls windows an door locks , I know what does , what to see what you think does . The speedometer not working is probably the step motor inside the instrument cluster . New instrument cluster ! Replace the turn signal switch.
The vehicle is equipped with power door locks. Each lock actuator is powered and controlled by the door module mounted in the individual door. The driver door module (DDM) is the master control for the door lock system but the rear integration module (RIM) contains the program that determines when the lock functions are permitted.
The vehicle is equipped with power windows controlled by the door modules. The DDM receives a window switch request, over the SBI serial data, from either the passenger door module wired to the window switch pressed or from the driver door switch assembly. The DDM checks the Class 2 serial data to see if the status information is correct (i.e. ignition switch position) to permit window operation.
If the status information to permit window operation is correct, the DDM sends the command to the door module controlling the window to move the window as requested.
Windows Power and Ground
The windows are powered by discreet power and ground circuits. These circuits are in the same dedicated connector as the window motor drive circuits.
These systems are very complex and are able to set DTC'S in the controlling module .Your best bet is to take your vehicle to a qualified repair shop .

DTC'S are intended to point the qualified technician in the correct diagnostic path. You may have a communication or network problem . Are you familiar with class two serial data bus communication network . The simple bus provides a means for information exchange among the vehicle door modules. Door module information on inputs and commanded outputs are converted to serial bus interface data for exchange among the door modules. The DDM can also take information from modules connected to the class 2 serial data circuit and relay the command to the simple bus interface. The vehicle power mode message (ignition switch position) from the DIM is an example. The DDM periodically addresses each module on the simple bus interface. When a module does not respond to the DDM, the DTC for that module is set. You can't just replace these modules , some need to be programmed . Dealer only ! First check codes , power an grounds etc....

I have a 2001 chevy silverado 4.3 v6 ext cab 1500 truck! I want to install a amp and speakers to the stock radio! I bought a high/low tap to run the RCA from stereo to the amp, what wires do I need to tap...


The speaker (high) level outputs are:
LF- GRY
LF + TAN
RF - DK GRN
RF + LT GRN

RR - LT BLU
RR + DK BLU
LR - YEL
LR + BRN

The wire color code in the "tap" (level converter) may not correspond to the above.

Headlights turn signals


Check high beam fuse, refers to owner manual for fuse map. If fuse ok, remove high beam bulb, don't break anything, look the filament for breakage, yes you can see it, replace bulb.

On a 2002 dodge ram 1500 truck the brake lights and the turn signals and winshield wipers dont work the only brake light that works is above the cab. and the turn signal flashes on the dash like they are...


I suspect a bad multi function switch located in the left hand side of the steering column. This switch controls your high/low beams/wiper delay/windshield washer/turn signals and hazards.

yes change the bulb and that'll fix it waht it is is that the low side of of the bulb is blowed .
