Sounds like the belt is loose. if it has a tensioner check and or replace it, if not tighten the belt. or the alternator tests ok but is actually not working at low rpm. or the battery is shorted. electricity is tricky

Battery light and abs light is on and battery wont stay charged, new battery and altenator is good

This sounds like a bad alternator , maybe it charges at times and other times it does not, check connections to battery and at alternator, also make sure all fuse are good.

The truck dies when you turn the head lights or the wipers on

Replace the altenator. It has gone bad and every thing is running on the battery.

I have a 1999 GMC Sonoma. The truck started dying out when driving. The dash lights would go crazy, then power dead. Replaced the alternator and no trouble for about 2 weeks. Now it's doing it again...

the voltage regulator is inside of the alternator so that would be a faulty alternator. check your positive battery connection at the battery. i'm sure you disconnected the negative when you replaced the alternator. these have a bad tendancy to rot off the connection at the positive side. this is not for sure what's wrong but it's a place to start. if not, then remove the alternator, return it to the place of purchase, and have them bench test it. it would not be the first part to fail right out of the box. good luck!

2001 Pt Cruiser. Car died, ran on battery, low lights. radio fade in and out then died. Replaced Altenator, did the same thing, mechanic said bad battery (battery replaced 2 mos ago) their shop showed bad...

have the alternator bench tested for faulty rectifier diode pack
it may be charging the correct voltage but it is AC voltage and not DC voltage
in which case the battery will die quickly
next to check is the voltage regulator
it has to be 4.5-14.8 volts DC and if it in the ECM unit , will require a new ECM to fix

First question, it sounds to me like your altenator. If you hear a squeak coming from under the hood, it could be your altenator. If you do not hear a squeak, that does not mean it is 100% not your altenator. There is still a good chance that your altenator is not producing a good enough of a charge to your battery.

and your second question sounds like a problem i had with a 1997 pontiac grand am. I personally think that you need a tune up. I would be sure to get platinum spark plugs, and use sythetic oils to keep your car running strong... good luck

Why do my headlights and interior lights dim and then battery light comes on

Because your battery is low and your there is a problem in your charging system. Loosen the nut on the negative battery terminal, start the vehicle and then remove the NEGATIVE terminal cable. If you have cables that mount to the front of the battery then start the vehicle and remove the negative cable. If the vehicle dies your alternator or voltage regulator are bad. Most likely the alternator. remove and replace. If the vehicle continues to run turn the lights on and see if it continues. If that is good, drive to Auto Zone, and ask them to come out and help you test the battery. They have a portable machine that will test it for you or have you bring the battery inside and test it for you, they will even help you install the replacement battery if needed.

1992 prelude si - battery/alternator prob?

if you can charge the battery and drive it for a while then sounds like the altenator has failed and is not re-charging the battery, good way to test is to charge the battery, start the car and turn the light on, if everything is dimm or the motor dies there is little to no charge voltage, and will require altenator work
