Question about 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Had problem starting, engine stopped while driving

2006 Grand Cherokee 5.7L Hemi has run perfectly until about three weeks ago. Drove to the store and when I came out, engine wouldn't even turn over. Just clicking. Eventually was able to get it to start after about a half hour of continuously trying. Dealer couldn't find anything wrong. Today, stalled while driving. Put it in neutral, was able to restart while still rolling. Any ideas? Fuel pump?

Have you ever cleaned the throttle valve and idle speed control valve? this is on the stall issue. the starter sounds like the contacts may be burnt in the starter solenoid, this is common on this type of Japanese starter at about this mileage, you can rebuild the starter solenoid or just replace it.

If your "check engine" light is turn on, I suggest scanned the PCM to know exactly what fault code is stored there. Additionally, could be some problem with the "temp sending unit".

It sounds like the technician ether unplugged or damaged your idle air speed sensor. I would return the cherokee and file a complaint. Armed with the knowledge of the possible problem you may come out of this with the job done correctly. Hope this helps. Good luck cj2176.

Jeep Grand Cherokee Power Loss

a bad cam sensor will cause vehicle to shut off while driving, and cause a hard time starting. but this usually sets a trouble code p0340. scan vehicle to see if any codes come up. after it is fixed, erase codes with a obd2 scanner. if you do not have one, you can go to any auto parts store and they will erase codes for free.
