You need to pull the plastic trim off that surrounds the rear window and look for a disconnected wire. If not disconnected, look for a break in any of the wires. first, though, check the fuse for that item in the fuse block under the hood.

'06 jetta - my rear defrost only partially works. Just the upper half - what needs to be done for the whole window to work?

Because the element is on the outside of the glass (on the inside of the car)you could use a magnifying glass to locate the break in the wire and use a metalic paint to bridge it.(this seldom works) so be prepared to replace the rear screen if needed.

2005 Chrysler Town and Country Touring rear defroster light comes on but no power to rear defroster

If there is no power at either connector on the window the first place I would look is the harness that goes in between the hatch and the body. It is pretty common for the wires to break in that area.

The power door locks are not functioning, either with the remote, or pressing the lock switch on the door panel. any clues??

First try pulling and re-inserting or replacing the IOD fuse. You can find it on the lower right side of the fuse box under the hood. If that doesn't work you have a short and need to see a mechanic.

2006 Town & Country no air conditioning

The plug kit was maybe a 10 dollar part + freon & labor you could have gotten it cheaper, evaporator leakage would be common on any make but seems chrysler has had more of them because there are more of them on the road compared to the other makes.Climate (salt belt region) and vibration are contributing factors to failure but that will apply to any vehicle no matter the make.
