Seems a $6. Fuel filter under the driver seat inside the rail frame.
My guess... since all else was done. Last resort is the ICM but if it starts then it should spark. Ignition Control Module does go out but is a pain. (ebay $24. / Ford new $124.) so fuel filter is best to go after.
Tune ups is all good but a filter and the tool to unsnap the spring loaded tube connectors is easy enough! Buy the once in a lifetime tool or make one from a Sharpie felt pen cap and cut 3/4 inch off the snap plastic female end cover so you have a short tube that you then split.
Force it over the fuel line and push it into the end connector near the start of the filter. Push the line as well into it so as to snap the two loose when the plastic short tube releases the spring grabs of the fuel line connector inside. The new one slips in place with no tool needed. But do listen for a snap release when removing or attaching the new filter on both ends.
And be sure and release pressure from the Schrader valve that is in the engine compartment of the fuel line first. Don't get sprayed in the face. Wear safety glasses always. Especially when under the carriage frame with dirt and gas to look at. Have fun.
Too long sitting, mine went bad. Too long without a full tank of gas, it can go bad, and one tank of fuel run through isn't enough if the truck is old and resting. 4.9 runs strong, then jerked and stalled. Let it rest a day and it was fine for another 2 miles. Pop and jerk like it was not sparking on all six proved to me that the fuel was skimpy and quit.

Did you check the fuel pump pressure before and after the pumps ?
You'll have to figureout if it is a fuel or ignition problem.Isthe check engine light on ?
Usually a "jerking" engine is an ignition problem.
You have a distributor and an ignition module that could be the problem too.

Have u checked for vacuum leaks or poss leaking EGR valve? use carb spray around the upper intake manifold where it bolts to the lower manifold, spray vacuum lines where they are connected to the engine vacuum ports, the idle speed will change if u hit a leak, as far as the EGR valve goes see if it gets hot at idle, if it does it is leaking, if all checks ok replace the O2 sensor, but i suspect u will find a leak at the upper intake plenum.

It could be bad plugs, plug wires, a bad ground will do this as well. Check to see if it has the three main things.

Spark
Air
Fuel

Anther common problem is the crank shaft speed sensor. It will cause it to not spark and not start.

It could be a lot of things, check the gas cap, vacuum leak, IAC, may need a tune-up ( check plugs, wires, air filter), seizing pulley, timing issue (check CKP sensor and CMP sensor), sticking valves, misfire, Fuel line pressure, or an issue with CAT or muffler.Good luck.

Misfire on 2 and 5

Hi Paula,

You didn't mention if you changed the plug wires.

You mentioned replacing the camshaft sensor. Have you checked the Crankshaft Position Sensor? Or the Mass Air Flow Sensor (may need cleaning)? Or the Throttle Position Sensor?

2000 HONDA CIVIC STARTS IDLES SMOOTH UNTIL IT WARMS UP, THEN IDLES RUFF, THE JUST DIED ALTOGETHER, PUT NEW TPS IN JUST BEFORE THAT, BUT IT DIDN'T HELP, NOW CAR WILL NOT START--HELP

old post. but not answered...
how many miles on car,
ever do the full tuneup , the op. guide in the glove box,
has what is called a service schedule, one mile mark
that must not be skipped , is the 60k (miles)
service points.
The TPS must not be just thrown it, it must be calibrated.
read the service manual, it shows how to do that.
a voltmeter is needed.

Not starts are easy, (3 ways) it cranks easy.
1: bad engine, lost compression? or EGR stuck open or CAT melted blocking exhaust , kills all engines. (tests)
Cam or spark timing set way off (no service ever done on car)
or set by , noobs wrong.

2: bad spark, yes, the tune up , fixed that. ,
3: bad fueling.
a: are the spark plug tips dry ( fuel pressure at 30psi?)
b: or wet if dry , try test fuel. (spray)
if soaked its flooding.

watch scotty. sorry for ad. skip it. but the video is the tops !

the fueling tests are complex. and require tools and gauges.
