Question about 2001 Volkswagen Golf
The glow plug heater light is flashing on my 2001 VW golf mk4 diesel tdi and the manual says it indicates an engine management fault. However, it drives perfectly normal, I stopped as soon as the light came on and turned the engine off for a few minutes, it restarted ok and I drove for about two minutes before starting to flash again. I am sure if this is relevant but I had the front pipe/cat replaced about 40 miles earlier by my local garage who have a good reputation.
This is going to sound nuts but its true.if your brakelight switch is defective that light will flash.
see if you brake lights are working.if it is automatic trans you will notice the shifter will not always release when you depress brake pedal.
if its not brakelight switch get it autoscaned with a VAG.com
