Boot on my xkr will not open.

The only way I can open the boot is with the fob. I have pressed the valet button and it makes no difference.

There is an aperture between the letters X and K (I think) -insert the key and turn clockwise (I think) and will open if not seized

SOURCE: jaguar xj8 boot wont open

Just bought my 98 a week ago....from what I can figure out....the valet mode disables the inside button....until the trunk is opened by the key. From what I understand also....there is a valet key....and an owner key. (I saw the differences online this week) which also ties in with valet mode.

Valet key is green. Does that mean the emblem or the case. I have black cases with green emblem one is silver the other is gold?

the valet key has a green housing and should only fit the door lock and ignition lock, not the boot or glove box.

Locked out of trunk

If the electric release button and the key do not work, you may have to remove the back seat and try to gain entry that way.

Can not open my boot on my golf Gti 18T with the key our with the fob.the key will only go in part way on the boot, but no problem when i put in the drivers door it opens all doors exept the boot

you are trying to open the boot with the valet key(check the flute running down the middle of the key)it will only do door and ignition not the glovebox/boot...you will have to use another of the three keys supplied.or the remotes if the bootlock is set to work with the doors(you can set seperately...)

I can not release my boot open from button in car or from my key fob! only putting the key in and turning it will open it.

the boot lock has two positions full left then upright or full right then upright one of these positions will allow you to remotely open the boot.(it is so that you can lock tho boot and give the service key, which will not open boot/glovebox,to the garage or valet parking.

I removed the battery from my car and when i put it back in the car would start all the control panels work in the car I just wonderd if i had to reset the alarm with the fob

Open the boot lid and drivers door, and switch on the ignition. Rock the valet switch, in the centre console, 5 times. The system will chirp to indicate it has entered learning mode.

On models with seat/mirror/steering wheel memory functions, the first remote will be linked to memory 1, second to memory 2 etc.

Press the larger, lock, button of the remote. The system will chirp to confirm it has got the signal. If it doesn't receive any signals for 15 seconds, it will chirp twice and exit learn mode.

To reset remote, rock the valet switch once. The system will chirp twice for remote number two, three times for number three etc, then press the lock button of the remote as above.

When finish, wait 15 seconds for the system to time out and chirp twice, turn off the ignition, close the doors and boot lid and the job is done!

Unlocking Boot lid

I am assuming your problem is similar to mine; the key fob isn't dead, but for some reason the boot won't release.  This happens rarely, but can be very frustrating (and embarrassing)!

When neither the key fob nor the release on the boot work, lock and unlock the car, and insert the key into the ignition.  Turn the key to the second stage, i.e. the accessories are powered, and then remove the key.  This ought to allow you to use the fob again.
