Should only be four bolts that holds your electric fan in place. you may have to remove any border on top of the fan and you lift it straight up out of the compartment

Im having trouble finding waterpump, is it located behind power steering pump and do i have to re-time it

Don't know specifically what Mercury you have, but typically the water pump is dead center on the front of the motor. If it has an engine driven fan then that would attach to the front of the water pump.

I bought a 98 Dakota, it started over heating, I changed the thermostat, and when I went to flush my radiator, it was plugged. Can they put something in the radiator to temporarily make the car run good?...

Drain the coolant when it is cold and pull off the upper and lower radiator hose. Put a garden hose in the radiator neck (after removing the radiator cap) and turn the water up gradually and let it run for 15 to 20 minutes or until the flow is constant. If your water pump is not noisy or leaking and the pulley is not wobbling then you should not have to replace the water pump. You may want to flush out the block with water also. Im trying to remove a water pump on a 1985 f150.i cant get the clutch fan off

If their is one large nut between the fan and pump then look for notches in the side of the sharp edges of the nut. If they are there then it is lefthand thread.

WATER LEAK AT SHAFT OF WATERPUMP , BIG JOB TO CHANGE PUMP ?

Not too bad,you have to remove fan,to get the water pump mounting bolts.take off the belt, remove the pump. Some people remove the radiator for more room ,this no big deal, just remove the top 2 bolts, remove upper, lower hoses, pull the fan cover off.You don't put RTV on gasket, also there's an small o ring that has to be replace, behind the pump.

I need directions to change my water pump

drain engine coolant.relieve belt tension .and remove the drive belt.remove upper fan shroud.remove fan or fan and clutch assembly.remove water pump pulley and coolant hoses from water pump.remove water pump bolts.then remove pump from engine.pay attention to bolts location because they are different lenghts.clean water pump gasket mounting surface dont scratch .or pump gasket wont seal and leak .apply sealant to water pump bolts.install water pump with new gasket.if gasket paper put a sealant on it.torque water pump bolts to 30 ft lbs.if you got a 2.2L engine torque water pump bolts to 18 ft lbs.install coolant hoses on pump .install water pump pulley.install fan and fan clutch assembly.install the drive belt .and the upper fan shroud.fill the radiator with coolant.then run engine to check for leaks.WARNING AS A SAFETY PRECAUTION REMOVE NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE SO CAR WONT BE CRANK BY ACCIDENT. ALSOOOO DONT FORGET TO TURN OFF RADIO FIRST BEFORE DISCONNECTING BATTERY SO YOU WONT LOSE YOUR RADIO CODE.

These engines are identified as an interference engine and on no account must the crank shaft and cam shaft be moved with the timing belt removed. You no not need to remove the water pump. You need to remove the water pump pulley only (not the water pump). I trust this helps.
