I push the four wheel drive button inside the vehicle and it doesn't seem to be engaing since it continues to blink instead of going solid as it should when it engaged. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My rodeo is doing the same thing. Interestingly enough, I've noticed that 4wheel LOW engages even though the 4wheel-drive light is blinking instead of solidly lit. I can definitely feel the gears engaging and this low sort of whine and weighty pull of the vehicle that lets me know that 4wheel LOW is functioning. So, this leads me to thinking -- could it be a sensor malfunction that is making the light blink but the 4wheel drive still actually works? I can't find any fuses on my rodeo for the 4wheel drive, though.........

SOURCE: 1997 Isuzu Rodeo. four-wheel drive

There's a vaccum switch on your front axle thats probably corroded and stuck. It's common, especially if you don't use very often. There could be other problems but this is most common. Of course check to see if the vaccum lines are still attached. Mines bad too and I could only find it at the dealer. It was $180.00. If your mechanically inclined, read about this on isuzuforums.com and buy manual front hubs and by pass this system. New warn hubs are only $80.00 and much stronger, this is a very easy modification.

SOURCE: 2002 ISUZU TROOPER PROCEDURES TO OPERATE THE FOUR WHEEL ENGAGING

Just press the 4wd button on the dash at any speed up to about 40mph and press again to come out .
When you turn the key on and the oil and battery lights are on the little green 4wd light should be on too if its flashing or not on check your fuses in the drivers footwell.

There are 2 models here the push button will flash if the system is not engaging or disengaging properly . If front drive shaft is turning. That is with car raised and supported . if front drive axles do not turn then the axle actuator is not engaging axle shaft passenger side. Remove actuator and manually engage shifting collar with a screwdriver still does not turn then inner axle is twisted.

My 1999 Isuzu Rodeo 4x4 four wheel disk rear wheels will not come off even without the lug nuts, why?

Because the wheels are corroded to the hub, causing it to seize. Leave one nut threaded on just a few turns (so your wheel doesn't go flying), get a big hammer and hit the inside of the tire with a good solid shot. That wheel will break loose pretty quick. Good luck!

I have a 2006 isuzu rodeo and i cant get it out of four wheel drive low i have try to put it in 2 wheel drive high and four wheel drive high but it still coomes up on dash that its four wheel drive low...

I have 2002 and I find that you have to come to a complete stop, put it in reverse momentarily, and that should take care of it. Cheaper than going to the dealer and having them really fix it!!!

Dodge 2001 4x4 Dakota Sport- Replaced the Transfer Case Motor but it still will not go onto 4WD. What do I do Next?

try checking your silinoid. Some of these newer vehicles have an electronic silinoid that is responsible for engaging your transfer case into four wheel drive. Also if you have push button or shift on the fly four wheel drive your switch may have gone bad. I hope this helps you.

Four wheel drive locking up in tight turn. loud clicking from front

Hopefully the CV joints have not been damaged, What you are experiencing is called torque bind, it happens when you drive on dry pavement in four wheel drive. Unless you have an all wheel drive system that has a way of allowing the front and rear wheels to slip or turn at different speeds, a standard four wheel drive system will destroy itself if it is used on a non slippery surface. Never drive on good traction surface unless you have selected 2WD, 4WD is only for snow, ice and gravel

4 wheel drive will not disengage.

If you have tried shifting stopped and moving, then I'd say the transfer servo could be broken. It is the motor on the transfer case that shifts it in and out of four wheel drive. If you know how to use a voltmeter, test the wires that run to the servo to see if it is getting the signals it should be. Newer vehicles usually have a computer associated with the transfer case motor. You could have the car plugged to a tester at auto zone to see if it is giving a code.
