Question about 2001 Cadillac DeVille
As soon as the engine has started it takes a minute for the rpms to come down. Just recently it has began to make a high pitched wineing sound during this period. The noise goes away as soon as the engine has dropped to around 700-900 rpms, and does not return. Any idea's? Additionally, while the noise is happening, accelerating the engine does not change the pitch as the engine RPM's increase or decrease. This problem for me just started as the temperature changed to the cold winter. Also, after the noise goes away after initial start up, the noise does not return after you turn the car off and immediately restart it. The noise only happens on initial start or after shutdonw, when the car completely returns back to the ambient cold temperature and you start it again.
What you do is run the engine up to normal operating temperature and pour in approx 1/3 to 1/2 of the contents of the can into the throttle body real fast until it stalls out the engine.
Turn the car OFF and let it sit overnight. the next morning it will be extremly hard to start but it will eventually start and get it back up to normal operating temperature and raise the idle speed up to about 1500 rpm's and SLOWLY pour the rest of the contents of the can into the throttle body. You do NOT want to stall the engine. Once the product is all gone keep running the engine until all the smoke clears from the exhaust pipe and see if your knock is gone.
also check with fuel injectors..

Usually the noise is caused by a loose or worn out belt in the engine. The best thing is to have it looked at, or if your not worried and you think the belt is fine, buy some belt lubricant at your local automotive store and put it on. You can open the hood and confirm this when you start the car next time.
