Question about 1995 Nissan Altima

1 Answer

1995 Alitma ran rough and stalled

I changed the spark plugs, one had oil on it, it ran better, then it started missing again, I changed the distributor cap and rotor (I had a new distributor, plugs, wires, cap & rotor put on 10,000 miles ago), now it running rougher then before but not stalling.

Its just fouled some plugs again. Need an overhaul. If you just put a valve job on it it will just put more stress on the rings and will need it anyway. Not much you can do except change plugs all the time!

I wouldn't rule out plugs or wires bad again. May be time for a change.

The cylinders are numbered as on the spark pack you changed. You might have done better putting the seafoam in the tank as an injector cleaner. Not sure why you changed so many parts, you seem to know how to get the codes from test connector lead hookup and the blink pattern. You might also want to check the fuel rail pressure and the crank and cam angle sensors. Before replacing the injector, swap the #4 injector with the adjacent one and see it the code moves with the injector or stays put. If the code stays on #4, then check the injector wiring, if it moves clean or replace the injector.

Check if fuel or spark problem,..all engines need both to run...use starting fluid in air intake ,..if it runs very shortly-fuel pmp?,,ck for spark at spark plug, work your way back..also ck timing belt-intact? Kev-MN

Engine running rough not starting

the spark plugs had damage to them ?.
First thing i would look at is the timing belt. not sure if it is a belt or chain but i'm willing to bet it has slipped or broken.

I had a problem just like that on my blazer and it turned out to be the wire harness on the fuel injectors. It could also be your fuel injectors, had to replce mine at 85000
