Cargo light will not go off.

When we enter the jeep, the interior lights and cargo lights stay on. When we exit the jeep, the interior lights will go off, but the cargo lights stay on. What are we doing wrong?

There could be a couple issues. What happens when you toggle on the switch itself for the cargo light with all the doors closed? Your vehicle should still be under warranty so you don't want to do anything but take it to your local jeep dealer. Please take a moment to accept and rate my solution accordingly.

DO NOT!!! check the wiring connection or harness, you will void your bumper to bumper warranty this way. These are not instructions you want to follow. You can toggle the switch if you need to disconnect the battery cable but it shouldn't kill the battery either way so just go to the dealership and get it taken care of if it is still an issue.
    Thanks again,

Please check the wiring connecting the lights, the harness could've been press hard and it triggers the light connectors.

Check under the hood, in the fusebox, for a fuse label ctsy (courtesy). It'll be over the driver side wheel. Replace it, if blows and, you have a wire touching bear metal somewhere. Good luck!

You have likely figured this out by now but check the lift gate switch. It provides ground to light.

Grand Cherokee Interior lights stay on

I don't know about the remote hand held key problem but concerning the light staying on...Try... turning off the rear dome light by pushing up on the fixture... it may have been accidently activated when loading stuff in the rear.

The rear dome light has a option feature that allows you to turn on/off interior lighting while loading cargo at night.

Good luck
