Thank you for you help, but it was the transfer case motor. I bought one & fixed it a couple of days ago. Your suggestion was the first thing I tried! Thanks again for trying though. It is greatly appriecated!

1996 GMC Jimmy manual - need help with 4 wheel drive - stuck in 4 wheel low and can't get out

Try to place the vehicle in park, then reverse, move the vehicle a few feet in reverse, then switch to neutral but NOT DRIVE. Attempt to take it out of low again and then go to drive. This is the method I had to use occassionally when my vehicles would get stuck in low.

Push button 4 wheel drive stuck in 4 wheel hi

My GMC Jimmy '01 would slip from 2-wheel to 4-wheel drive while I was driving. First time it happened my mechanic replaced a small part. This last time, he couldn't find anything wrong so he popped the 2-4 out and disconnected the 4-wheel drive. Now I don't have the problem.

2001 jimmy stuck in 4wd low

Usually when a truck gets stuck in 4 low you need to put it in reverse, start backing up very slowly, put it in neutral (or push in the clutch on manual trans models) and stop the truck with the brakes. this will release the load on the gearing which should allow you to shift out of 4 low.

Is it safe to leave my 4 wheel drive on all winter on my 95 Jimmy

I would not do it at all in 4low.
It is not a good idea to leave it in 4 low all winter, sounds like u might have a loose wire problem.
