Question about 2005 Volvo XC70

1 Answer

Now that Winter is upon us in Asheville, NC, my wife's 2005 XC70 has developed a sound in the power steering (only yesterday afternoon and this morning). It "sounds" as if it is low on fluid but does not appear to be. The car is garaged while at her office and also at our home. Is this a common occurrence on this model Volvo? Any suggestions as to how to remedy this issue? The vehicle has approximately 45k miles. Thanks in advance for your insight. JLand58949@charter.net

2005 xc70 volvo ceiling leak when it rain

Sounds like rubber seal is leaking, check the rubber seals along the side of the windshield and along the inner door. The seal can be easily replaced or patched with silicon sealeant.

Hope this helps

My Husband changed my serpentin belt yesterday

Just a hunch, but I'm guessing that the belt is on correctly except for the power steering. It's probably running backwards. Check the routing carefully. Hope this helps.

The cruise control in my 2005 Ford Freestar just stopped working yesterday, then this afternoon the radio controls in the steering column stopped working as well

clock spring in the steering column is my guess. They are delicate and have to do with anything in the steering wheel like airbag, horn, or anything that is operated by buttons on the wheel. These wires have to turn constantly with the steering wheel and the "clock spring" goes bad often enough

SRS AIRBAG SERVICE 2004 XC-90 MODEL

Most common SRS fault in XC90's is the driver side SIPS bag (side air bag) located in the side of the seat. The wire runs close to the hinge for the backrest and after working back and forth can break or short.

The brakes on my volvo xc70 2005 are hard to push and dont have any assistance. It make a swish sound when I push the pedal. it does brae though but I have to push really hard! Might it be the master vac?

Sounds like you have lost vacume to the break booster, chk for a leak in the hose from engine to the booster, if no leak in hose than the booster is bad.

2005 XC70 Power Steering Noise

Sounds like you put the wrong kind of fluid in there.

Also, NEVER list your email address in a public forum. That's the quickest way to get spam known to man.
