Question about 1991 Honda Accord

1 Answer

Car wouldn't start, bought new battery, still won't start.

A month ago, I left the lights on in my '91 Honda Accord, and when attempting to jump it, I blew the fuse because we hooked the cables up wrong.. I got it towed and had the fuse repaired. The mechanic told me it was simply the fuse, not the alternator. Even though the alternator is old, he said it runs decent. Today, I left my lights on again and it sat in my school parking lot all day. I attempted to get it jumped again, making sure I hooked the cables up right this time and It still wouldn't start, and, knowing the battery was old, got a new one.I hooked the new one up, but the car still wouldn't start! I am in high school and know nothing about cars. I am looking for the cheapest possible solution. Is there any way you have any idea what's wrong or have any advice to what I should do? Thanks

It sounds like the battery was drained again but this one should be under warranty.Get it running again and look into those cutoff switches that automatically shut the lights.Until then.be extra careful, maybe even leave yourself a note on the drivers door to
'shut the lights'.

1988 lxi honda accord battery drains overnight

Just a couple problems I've had. dome light left on due to faulty door open switch, spot light charger or equipment left plugged or wired to battery, lately I thought I had a bad battery but I just need to clean the terminal connections. One more thing if your car is running you can pull the negative cable off the battery. If the car dies your alternator could be the problem. If you have a light in the trunk or under the hood you could pull the bulb out to make sure you don't have a faulty switch turning them on. These are kind of simple and that is the way I start out.

I have seen issues like this on other Honda's and the problem turned out to be the ignition starter switch. Do this, jumper power directly to the starter solenoid trigger wire and see if the engine cranks.

Clicking noise from my engine when i attempt to start my jetta 4 1999

check the battery. charge it or get some one to help you jump it. if it still does it check the battery terminals for corrosion. clean and tighten firmly. if it still does it, you need a starter.

91 honda- I will turn the key and a lot of noise but no crank

Do the light test. turn on headlights. if they dim when you crank, the battery is low. If the lights go out, you have a bad connection. If they don't do anything but stay bright and on,you have a bad starter relay or relay connection. That is probably what you hear fluttering. Good Luck

Two new batteries, won't hold charge

I would Check the Belt Tensioner. If the Belt Tensioner is Not Holding the Belt Tight Enough it will not allow the Alternator to Charge the Battery and will result in the Dead Batteries. Please Rate My Response! Thanks!

Honda accord hybrid 2005 won't start in cold weather

Sounds like a fuse for the DC-DC convertor to battery circut or the DC-DC convertor. Check the fuses under the hood but DO NOT attempt to fix the convertor yourself because there are LETHAL amouts of voltage in the hybrid drive system.

Car stopped working

I had a very similar problem with my 2005 accord a few months ago. Try jump starting the car with jumper cables. If the car starts and everything works normally, then the battery is probably your problem. This turned out to be my problem. Good luck.

Honda car stereo

I won a 2004 Honda Civic.
I had a bad battery and my car would not start. I had someone jump start it and it now has a new battery. The car runs fine but the stereo will not play am/fm or CD's. Regardless of what I do I get an "Error E code"

Please help.
