What should be the fuel pump pressure on a 1994 Dogde ramvan B350
The van will start just fine, but after idling to warm up, when I put it in drive it dies. If I hold the accelerator to the floor and crank for 20 - 30 seconds it will start. Sometimes is then ok, other times has no power. Suspect the fuel pump. What should be the pressure at the fuel rail during idle?

Sounds like a weak fuel pump.Check your fuel pressure it should be 50-60 psi.You will need to pull the fuel relay then start the engine and let it run until it cuts off by itself then put the relay back in and hook up a scan tool and energize the pump and read the pressure. If its not within these specs replace fuel pump and filter.
'till you do some in depth testing of all systems, I'd place equal weight on every possibility. Make sure you cover the basics like fuel filter etc before getting crazy with it though. Also check cap. rotor, coil and wires. Idle cylinder pressure is different than that encountered when driving. This additional pressure will cause ignition spark to seek a better easier ground,(not the spark plugs where it should be going) causing missing under load. After checking , if you haven't found anything, its time to begin testing fuel pump pressures, modules and controls. good luck
ya these motors need tons of fuel pressure so if you have a pressure tester test the fuel pressure prior to the fuel filter and see if it is atleast 25 psi if not replace pump with new or rebuild all the luck to you with current project
