SOURCE: instruction to change cam belt on peugeot 307

If its DIY job then you can download the instructions i have uploaded for you (available for 45 days to download from today).

First of all you need to take off ancillary drive belt.
http://www.gigasize.com/get.php?d=ml20tdk87lf

then follow the instructions to change Cambelt.
http://www.gigasize.com/get.php?d=mb7lpdd4ctc

It is better if you change the tensioner roller and water pump when you change the cambelt as they are running under same belt and suffering the wear & tear as well.

SOURCE: on-line step by step guide to change timing belt.

this is the best guide/instructions I could find on the net and I do allot of this.
take the timing cover off the belt there should be a gear below the camshaft pully its a tensioner use a peice of chalk and mark the very top of the cam pully and the very bottom of the crank pully do your best not to turn them loosen the tensioner pully the belt will loosen up take it off put the new one on if you turned the pully put it back slowly tighten the belt when its tight if the pully turned when tightening pull the slack out by hand then tighten it both chalk marks should be lined up if they are start the car always unplug the battery first and dont rotate the pullys more than a few inches if nessacery when the belt is off you could cause damage to the valves

SOURCE: "when do i change the cam belt on a peugeot 307 sw diesel"

usually you should do it for peugeot diesel at 122000 miles along with water pump and the tensioner roller that runs under the cambelt too. But to be on the safe side do it at 100000 and save the fortune.
It took me (DIY job) about 6-8 hours as i wanted to save 450 pounds.

SOURCE: peugeot 307 1.6

peugeot and citreon cars do bite high generaly, it is hydaulic there is no adjustment. but it also depends on how high it is ?? does it slip if you slightly rest your foot on whilst driving?? they do have a problem with the bearings going through the cover as it is the same bearing as a HDI . but you woud notice this as a different problem. ie noise or vibration on pedal. call me for more info .. paul @ the clutch centre..01527 64440 07790438337

307 alternator

You have a few problems here first let's try to help with the belt. If the belt is not put on straight it will shred into pieces by straight I mean aligned with the 2 or more pullies including the tensioner. The steering not being straight means the tire alignment is off this can be sorted by going to do a lazer alignment.

Thinking of buying a peugeot 307 with 124k, will changing the timing belt make a difference?

If the belt is broken, pass on buying it. Broken timing belt = BIG $$$ repair. If it's running and price is right, w/that many miles get timing belt changed ASAP.

How many miles be change cambelt on peugeot 307 on a 51 plate

you should change the timing belt at 60,000 miles or every four years (which ever comes first) this is because the belt will deteriorate due to stress, temperature, ect. replace the belt tensioner while tou are there..
