I am trying to change the belts on a 5.3 v8 Tahoe. How do I get the old belt loose?

You have a tensioner pulley, should be top one on the your left when standing in front of the vehicle, but check your sticker on your vehicle. Here's a link, if you scroll way down you'll see written step by step for you.
