That is the most vague uninformative answer I could have gotten?? Are you familiar with the auto that I am asking about or just giving me a generic answer??

RUN THE ENGINE AND WATCH THE PULLEYS, YOU WILL SEE ONE THAT MOVES OR JITTERS, THAT IS THE TENSIONER PULLEY, U RELEASE THE TENSION WITH EITHER A WRENCH OR A RATCHET BY PULLING/MOVING THE PULLEY IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION OF THE BELT TENSION.

Generic, all belts are the same, all have a spring loaded tensioners, all tensioners are released with either a rachet head or a wrench, period, this info is correct, go look.

It's pretty easy take the serpenten belt off if it has a motor mount on top of the serpenten belt you will have to jack up on the motor on the right side to releive the pressure on the mount remove the mount and tensioner should be a 13 or 15 millimeter bolt remove install new one put serpentine belt on then motor mount good to go thanks.

Do I need to remove motor mount to replace the serpentine belt?

On my 01 LeSabre, changing serpentine belt is a breeze.

Use a 5/8 socket and strong arm on the tensioner pully, rotate towards the back of the car to loose tension on the belt, then just slip the belt off. I was suprised how easy it was to do.

How to releived the tension on the belts when removing the the alternator on A 1995 jeep wrangler

Serpentine Belt:

If there is a tensioner with a spring, then put a 1/2" breaker bar on it and rotate the tensioner to relieve tension.

Conventional V-Belt:

Loosen the nut and bolts for the alternator to swing it in a way that relieves tension on the belt.

May have to relieve tension on other belts in similar way to change the belt in question.

Where is the belt tensioner on a 2001 chevy tahoe

You need to remove the front belt first. Take the tension off the belt by putting a socket or wrench on the tensioner and pivot it away. I would make a quick sketch of the belt route if you don't have a diagram. The AC compressor tensioner is on the bottom and the belt comes off the same way. Installation is the reverse.

I have a 97 chevy dually and i need a diagram of how to change the serpetine belt..its a 7.4 litre

easy job all you need is a size 14 wrench and find the tensioner pully once youve done that take your wrench and put it on the nut on the front of the pully and pull upward once you see the belt to get loose enough to pull from the alternator pull it off work it in front of the fan until its out. make sure to draw a picture of the way it was routed so you can put it back on without a problem you will need to pull the tensioner while you are reinstalling the new belt so you will have enough slack in the belt to push it over the last pully. also take the old belt with you to the parts store so you can compare the size and part number from the old one. theres nothing more frustrating then to get the wrong part and figure it out when your trying to put it on

How to remove the serpentine belt

apply a 3/8 ratchet to the tensioner and ratchet it back to releive the tension to the belt. Take note what configuration the belt is on so you can install the new one on with ease. The vehicle should have a belt routing label attached somewhere under the hood just incase you need it

You have a tensioner pulley, should be top one on the your left when standing in front of the vehicle, but check your sticker on your vehicle. Here's a link, if you scroll way down you'll see written step by step for you.

Serpentine belt

This procedure is for anybody who has has trouble getting a serpentine belt on. It's easy and doesn't require a prybar.

  • Get a 14mm or 9/16" socket and a long handled ratchet or breaker bar.
  • Get the belt around all the pulleys except the A/C compressor or Alternator.
  • The tensioner pulley is near the Alternator toward the center of the engine. It's on a spring loaded arm. Get your socket on the center nut of this pulley.
  • Slowly pull the ratchet toward the center of the engine. The pulley will pivot on the arm allowing you to get the belt on the final pulley.
  • Slowly release the tension.
  • You're done
