Question about 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier

1996 Chev Cavalier - Rear signal & brake light out on driver side

The rapid flashing arrow when I used the turn signal indicated the problem. The bulbs were burned out, I had the bulbs replaced. It worked for a second then went out and has not worked since. The fuses are fine, as I checked them all.

Thank you for your posting derk13553!! It was the socket the light bulbs go in. It turned out the metal wasn't connecting properly after the new bulbs were put in. Cost just $18. to replace the part.

I have the same problem but also the back up lights are out as well. We've checked the fuses and replaced the bulbs.

Check the wires for a cut or something that may be shorting out the lights

07 Impala rear driver side brake light and turn signal does not work, but when I checked the bulb it was working just not when I press the brake. The left turn signal on the dash also blinks rapidly.

Sounds like a possible bad ground connection.
Make sure the contacts for the bulb are clean.
Make sure the cround connection is not corroded.

Have a Chevy Corsica 1996. Blinkers not working right. When I step on brake the arrow on instrument panel for the right blinker lights up. When use left blinker, both flash like the flashers are on. ...

It sounds like a bad light socket. The brake light and the parking/running/regular part of the socket are shorting out. When you press on the brake petal it's shorting out on the turn signal and sending current to the indicator (arrow) on the dash.. When you use the blinker, it's shorting with the brake light and causing them both to flash...

Check the socket and get back to me with the result.

What causes left turn signal to blink rapidly? And how to fix it?

If only the left signal is blinking rapidly, it indicates a blown bulb. Open the trunk and you can access the rear of the tail light assembly. Then twist and remove the bulb retainer from the assembly and change the bulb. Align the bulb retainer and twist back into position. Hope this helped and best wishes.

Check the front lights. Usually if i flashes fast it indicate a bulb is out on that side.

Rear lights work when turned on. No brake lights or rear turn signals. Front turn signals flash more rapidly. Replaced both rear bulbs with no change

if you're getting a more rapid flash in the front you have a possible blown relay to the back. Check fuses first and see if those are out.

Chev Cavalier 2003 only one rear turn/brake/hazard light

I have a 2002 Chev Cavalier that had the same exact problem. I replaced the bulb harness (purchased from a chevy dealership for around $5) which was fairly easy to do. I have had zero problems with it since.
