Question about 2002 Jeep Liberty

1 Answer

I have a 2002 jeep liberty limited, i bought it used in 2004 april. it ran fine until november of that yr. when it turned cold and damp it would die at idle after warming up to temperature. as long as i could give it gas it was ok, but stopping at a light or stopsign it dies. i have had it at a chryser dealer for 2 weeks and numerous private mechanics and they find nothing wrong ! when spring comes around it runs fine !

I just bough an 02 liberty today with 102k and I am noticing a rough slighty jumping and wearing on the idle when comming to a stop then as if the transmission isn't going in to neutral or letting it slip in order to come to a stop with out killing the engine... not always but like I said, I just brought it home tonight and am concerned.

First Post: What if anything got checked by dealer...Were cap, rotor and wires changed? Have someone look at ign coil while running in the dark. See any arcing?
Second guy (guest): Have someone check the lockup converter on your transmission... sounds like it is not disengaging properly!

Buy a couple bottles of gas line antifreeze... add one to the tank now and one when you next fill up.

I want to change a 3.7 motor off of 2004 jeep Liberty 2wd in order to fit my 2002 jeep liberty 4wd?

engine swaps are complex as is mixing engines to wrong transmissions.
so both are 3.7L, is that it?
you never said what exacty didnt fit.
the flex plate to TC
or TC to A/T pump side mismatch.
????????
if its the flex then get the correct flex plate.
or call jeep parts? ask them for the right parts
the side of the trans has the trans part number
my guess is all you need is the correct flex plate for engine to TC.

The rear wiper has its own pump motor. pull the hose from the wiper and have someone engage to see if there is a clog. do the same at the motor. if bo liquid comes out then its the pump. also check fluid level in reservoir as well as a possible secondary reservoir

2002 Jeep does not idle

Well alot of people tend to think that just because they have a vehicle that is new or within 10 yrs of new...that they can get in it and strart up and just take off...well...the truth is and especially in Winter months is that you have to warm up your vehicle till the water tempature gets to where it needs to be ...warmed up.....in order for all the systems in your vehicle to work properley.....so Warm up your vehicle everyday before you drive it....don't just hop in and take off......This is my solution to this problem, especially if it is a seasonal..problem.....Sincerely, Mike
