Right when it goes cold check the heater pipes are hot to work out where the problem lies ,if the pipes go cold then its circulation problem if the pipes are hot then its a problem with the control unit ,its has a microprocessor to work the climatic control and i suspect the later but them i am often wrong in these cases with all this fancy electronic gear on modern cars.my ideal is a radio with a volume controlwith built in on/off and a tuning knob ,heater controls where its a lever to turn the heater on or off ,a handbrake that lock the back wheels up at 30mph and nice thin steering wheel with the horn in the middle of it .But i think iam showing my age here
Check to see if your heater control valve in the engine bay is resting on the inner tie rods. You could be opening the valve and closing it when you turn the wheel and the inner tie rod moves.
Engines can rock on the motor mounts. You probably have a vacuum line that is pinched, cracked, broken, kinked, or unhooked. check the engine compartment lines first. If you have thin plastic vacuum lines, they can kink more easily than rubber lines. If you have been working under the dash (replacing a radio, etc) check your work area in case you have a broken fitting on a vacuum housing or an unhooked line.
Sounds like you have a problem with the cooling system. First thing you need to check first if the auxillary fans are working from the time you are the engine is overheating. If the auxillary fans is not working then the problem would be the aux fan itself or relays. if Fan is working then you might have a poblem with the water pump.
If your car is overheating it means that there is a leak in the coolant system somewhere. A common problem with a car this age is the in car heater core. Also the auxillary cooling fan may not be working. The first thing to do is a pressure test on the cooling system to determine where the leak is, and proceed from there.
Hi your car is fitted with a seperate auxillary water pump for the heater circuit it may have stopped working idealy you need to get it checked on a dealer diagnostic test computer as it will pick up
heater faults and check the electrical circuits to the webasto heater under the bonnet
There is an Electic Water Pump for the Heater that is located under the hood near the left fenderwell. If it's not a fuse, then likely, this pump is bad. Mine went bad in my 1999 Jaguar XJR. It runs close to $400 for the pump, so hopefully that's not the problem. Price does not include labor.
Since I'm comfortable with Electronics, I replaced the brushes in my motor and it works fine now. Heat all the time and only cost $1.00 You may be able to find a shop to rebuild the motor for you at a fraction of the cost.
This sound is from the fuel burning heater situated in front of the left front wheel arch. It'staying on because the relay is sticking and forcing the system to work.Repair this by replacing the heater relay found solo next to the engine compartment fuse box.
