Question about 2006 Audi A8

Audi A8 '04 keyless entry problem

Hi.
I have a problem with my Audi A8 (2004) keyless entry/start system.
Sometimes it works perfectly: when you approach the car with the key in the pocket, you slide the hand under the door handle an it unlocks itself - also for locking, you only need to press the button located on the door handle. But... some other times (without no apparent reason) this system doesn't work and I have to use the remote key to open/lock the car. Between the working and non-working periods nothing changes in my behavior (opening procedures) towards the car. I even changed the key battery - no solution what so ever.
Thank you.

No! Nothing is mulfunctioning. Its all right. Everything is OK. Its Audi A8 4E series spec.
If the batteries are low, immobilizer system power down, to reverve power for next ignition., for example, security systems, radio door open systems, button door opensystems.
    H
What you need to do, is, to charge your batteries, and keep in charged state.
Be careful not to drain your battery level as low as 10% or someting.

You need to replace the SmartKey to the car.
The keyfob has been damaged internally by water, or shock.
This is a dealership only option, as the key requires to be sync'd with your vehicle with a special computer only available to the dealers.
There is no end-user repair for this.
Either keep using the way it is, or replace the KeyFob.

Thanks for using FixYa - a FixYa rating is appreciated!!

Advanced key access and authorisation system Drivers of the new A8 now only need to reach for their car key from time to time: "advanced key" is the name of an optional system that acts as an electronic access and authorisation system. The key - which can remain in the driver's pocket - incorporates an electronic pulse generator whose signal is registered and checked by a proximity sensor in the door. If the signal is accepted, the doors are unlocked as soon as the driver operates the button on the door handle. The central locking can be activated and deactivated at any door of the vehicle. All the driver has to do is carry the key on his or her person within a range of about 1.5 metres from the car and to actuate the door handle. The passenger can also be the first to open the door. It is possible to select via MMI whether the central locking should only release the manually actuated doors or unlock all of them. The advanced key system also means that the steering is released and the ignition turned on electronically and wirelessly before the start of a journey. Provided the driver has the key on his or her person while inside the car, the steering is released by pressing the starter button. At the same time the ignition is activated and the electronic immobiliser released. Then the engine can be started at the starter switch on the centre console. For safety reasons, the selector lever must be in the position "P" or "N" and the driver must actuate the foot brake. The engine can of course also be started in the conventional way by turning the key in the ignition lock. When leaving a vehicle equipped with advanced key, it merely suffices to press a small button on the outside handle on the driver's door in order to lock all doors. Once again there is a dialogue between the key and the in-vehicle sensor: it is therefore impossible to lock the doors accidentally. This system is not only convenient, it also benefits security. The mechanical ignition lock previously used has been replaced by an electronic version. The key identification process with advanced key is fully electronic and consequently enables they key to be clearly assigned to the right vehicle.

If disconnecting battery does not work try a new key fob, or have it reprogrammed at a car dealer.

Check out the ignition switch.
also check out the fuses in the module.
surges can erase the default programing of security systems. Installing a new battery or having a problem while jump starting a vehicle can have the same result. Only dealers and specialists have the equipment to reprogram these systems and they can be pricey... Check the fuse first. if you are lucky this is where the problem is..

It is possible that the door jamb switch is weak. Starting with the drivers door, wiggle the switch and then close the door; if this helps ,replace the switch.

Well, you basically have only 3 choices:
1. Pay the fee at the dealership
2. Purchase the high-dollar equipment that is required to perform the programming procedure
3. Forget about adding another key fob to tor vehicle.

Keyless entry did not work

If I am not mistaken, this is a safety feature. You manually locked the doors which told the computer you could possibly be in danger and someone on the outside has your key. After you unlocked and started the vehicle it reset the mode and that is why it works now without a problem. You can test this by manually locking it again and trying the keyless entry. If it does not work, then unlock and start the vehicle and try again. If it does work have the dealer check it out as it could be the receiver for the keyless system.

Sounds like the keyless entry system is on the fritz. You will probably have to get a new brain for the keyless entry system.

It's doubtful, but your best bet would be to consult with a dealer of Mongoose products, an independent stereo shop, or search the various Audi owners' forums (www.audiforums.com, www.audizine.com, etc) - chances are someone there has a similar system and may be able to help you out.
