I have a 1997 chevy silverado with a 350 in it. After going 20 to 30 miles with the air conditioner on it startes to run rough it is getting to much gas if you give it a lot of gas it starts to run ok but when you do give it gas it smokes black smoke till it clears up which only takes just a second. I have tuned it up plugs, wires, distrbutor cap and rotor button what could my problem be?

If it is actually getting too much fuel, the injector or injectors are staying on too long. They are controlled by the ECM so nothing to do with the ignition system.
Another possible cause is a bad fuel pressure regulator. But none of this should be connected to the a/c.
Very strange.

SOURCE: 1994 chevy astro van awd

underneth the intake manold is were your fuel injector poppet nozzles are, more than likely the fuel line hose that goes thru the back of the intake is split and leaking fuel underneth the intake manifold if you check the fuel pressure you will find that the fuel pressure will drop down to 0 psi as soon as the fuel pump shuts off and it should hold pressure

before you drop tank again, check fuses & relay.then disconnect fuel line @ filter turn key to on position should hear fuel pump run and get gas stream out of line. if no flow from line new pump faulty be sure & remove negative battery cable first good luck.

That's a lot of miles! Get the oxygen sensor checked, I'm wondering if its going south and leaning out the mixture too much. I think you need a good tech to go through the sensors that control mixture. Inlet air temp, water temp, CO, exhaust temp etc.

Chevy truck running rough 150,000 miles

Find out why the engine light is coming on, it is the info u probably need to fix the running rough problem. Most auto parts stores will read the codes stored in your trucks computer for free, write them down, and ask what they mean and how to correct the problem. If u need more info, return to this site w/ codes for further help.
