Engine over-revs between 2nd and 3rd gear

Recently paid $1500 for Mercedes E320 automatic transmission rebuild. Now the engine over-revs when shifting from 2nd to 3rd, particularly during rapid acceleration.

They did not install bands right needs to be rebuild bands need to be adjusted

Kia Spectra 2nd to 3rd gear having shifting problem


Could be the transmission shift solenoids.
I've replaced dozens and so far, that was the problem every time.

Hard shifting


probably just your transmission being old and wear and tear catching up to it. engine braking is a good thing in a manual but since automatics cant judge how far to let out a clutch mechanism that doesnt exist to make it smooth, it usually causes more wear and tear than its worth. maybe time for a transmission rebuild and time to leave engine braking to manual transmissions. $30 brake pads vs $2000 transmission. hope this helps ya

Vacuum modulator on side of transmission and/or the line connected to it my have a leak to begin with. After that try replacing the pistons on the side as they are inexpensive in comparison to a transmission rebuild. If you do go with a rebuild try buymbparts.com or autohausaz.com for rebuild kits.

Consult your car's manual on how to check your transmission fluid. If it is too low or high, it can cause some shifting problems and even cause some serious and expensive damage. If your fluid is ok or are not sure about it, go to a local car store like Auto Zone or NAPA and have them check your fluid and run a diagnostic computer on your car. Your car may tell you what is wrong.

They did something wrong, take it back, this is a serious problem and will damage the forward clutch pack if you let it continue un-repaired, that will mean another $1500
