Lincoln LS2000, transmission hesitates to shift from park into any gear. No problems with shifting through gears in regular driving. Is this a major repair? Only 113,000 mi.

Inspection is required.

On my merc e200, 1999 reg, the asr light flashes sometimes and speed is limited to approx 40mph.Putting foot on accelerator does not make any difference to speed at first have to stop then pull away again.

You need to have the computer scanned for codes these codes will help in locating the problem, there are stored codes for that reason,
the ASR light is for the automatic slip control, this is for winter in snow to keep wheels from spinning, it thinks a wwheel is spinning faster than the other, could be speed sensor or a common problem is oil comes up through computer wires into computer due to bad connector at trany, check the computer box on the pass/side under hood to rear near firewall remove cover and look for oil, this should be check asap trany damage or computer damage will be done and is costly, i've done a few of these. hope this helps.

My is shifting from 2 to drive back to 2 why is it doning that

Check your tranny fluid levels- if they are low your transmition will slip between gears, however if you notice any kind of free reving while its shifting (like being reved up when in park or neutral) then the hydrostatic clutches are slipping and the transmition needs repair.

Another thing you should investigate is your transmition kick down bar (it shifts the trany into a lower gear when accelerating hard to help pick up speed.

1st gear slipping at start. reverse and other gears fine. shifts between gears fine. if i start off slow it wont slip. 01 rodeo 4 cyl. also eng light has been on for 1 yr. has 120000 miles.

Have you checked the trani fluid ?
It could be slipping just enough to notice in 1st gear beause that is the most resistance..
A slip is a slip..
Or it could be that the bands are warn in only first gear - wich would cause damage before long..
Some shops give free estimates..

this is a worn out transmission front pump and or forward clutch pack, u have low pressure or a internal seal is leaking and you are losing hydraulic pressure that way, that is why it sipls out of gear.
