My guess is, the dome light has a three position switch that got turned to "always on" when you yawned and stretched. Either that or the panel switch is turned to "always on." My roommate once had this problem and for weeks he disconnected the battery every time he parked. But when I drove one time, I noticed the panel light switch was turned on. Problem solved.

You'll need to remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. You'll need to lift the door panel upwards in order to get it off the window ledge. If needed, you can pull back the weather seal (can't reuse it, but it's not that important) and you will be able to access everything inside the door

look for the door switch (its the thing that gets pushed in when you close the door - it's a plunger)
I reckon this switch is corroded (giving the age of the car)
- (you have checked the bulb and fuses first?)
you need to either replace or repair this switch - very cheap part...

SOURCE: NEED TO REPLACE THE HEATER
the fan "blade" is a tubular rotating device that looks like a mouse treadmill. it can't go bad. if it is binding, free it. it is almost certainly the motor which will probably come with a new fan cage.

SOURCE: THE INTERIOR LIGHTS TO MY
You probably have a door switch that is not operating properly so the dome light comes on. You can remove the dome light bulb to keep from running down the battery and then during daylight you can spray the car door latches liberally with WD40 and open and close the doors repeatedly and hopefully the door switch that tells the car the door is closed will begin working properly and then replace the dome light bulb and lights will stay off. This is a common problem on Fords as well as GM vehicles.
