99 cadillac seville continues to overheat even though i put a new water pump

maybe the water pump wasnt the problem to begin with. if the engine temperature only goes up when you stop the car then most likely it is the FANS that are not engaging to cool the radiator which is a problem with the fan sensor, computer that controls the fans, relay/fuse. I had the same problem on my 1999 cady STS coming back from my vacation. the engine temperature would be normal only when I drove the car above 70km/hr because the air passing through the front of the car would cool the radiator. when I slowed down the fans wouldnt start and no air was passing through to cool the rad, hence the engine temperature would start to go to HOT. good luck.

95 Chevy S-10 starting issues

If the engine is turning over and it still wont start try shooting a little starting fluid in the air cleaner to see if it will run .. if so your fuel pump is either bad or the fuel filter is getting dirty.. thanks and holler if you need more Jerry

Start with engine cool. Remove rad cap, top up coolant, start engine, & turn on heater (not defrost). let it run until up to normal operating temperature & radiator fan comes on, then shuts off. Let it do this about 3 times before you put rad cap back on & top up return bottle to proper level. Every once in a while, rev engine slightly for a few seconds while your doing it, to speed up bleed by increasing flow. Keep an eye on temperature gauge for too hot, and fan not coming on, if so, shut it off.

have you checked to see if the alternator is working? If it isn't the battery is being drained. You may have lights and all but the cranking power is drained therefore you don't have enough juice to start it. So check the alternator and if possible do an obd 2 scan at autozone or advance auto

My mercuy villager wont start it trys to turn over but dies when i press the gas its a 1996 mercury villager gs

Will it idle ok? When it warms up, does it run ok? Sounds like a couplf likely things.
The fuel pumpcould be getting wea and not supplying enough pressure (40 psi) to the fuel injectors. Pump is in tank. About a $200 repair.
The fuel misture could be too lean due to a thin coating of varnish on the MAF sensor (mass air flow). It is on the black air cleaner tube held in with 2 anti tamper screws. Remove it and cean the wires with carb cleaner and a tooth brush very gently so you don't damage the delicate wires. I think you can get access by removing the air cleaner intake hose it is mounte on. About 3 inches x 4 inches. Also, clean the honeycomb air diffuser inside the air cleaner tube.
Other possibilities are dirty injectors, or other bad sensors. Need more info on how this started happening, how does it run warm, and if the comuter has fault codes. Your local auto parts store might run the computer test with their scan tool for free. Ask them.
Do not buy a knock sensor since they are never bad but the test sometimes says it is.
good luck. let us know what happens.
