How can I remove a timing gear off an 89 ford f150?

One of the gears is fiber and not aluminum. It's the one on the camp shaft that I'm having a problem with.

a pto pump is an after market unit and is designed to fit any gear box
the problem s you will be experiencing is the adapter plate used to get the correct gear mesh for the pto gear and the counter shaft gear and if the pitch of the pump is the same as the counter shaft gear( may have to change the pto gear )
before you do the conversion , talk with a shop that fits pto units to discuss any likely problems and they will have access to anything needed to be successful in the fittment

In general, the Ford Bronco running gear is identical to an F150 4X4 running gear for the same year. The only difference is the length of the rear drive shaft. I doubt the F250 gear will fit, since typically the F150 running gear is made by ford, and the F250 running gear comes from commercially available parts (Dana, etc).

1985 f150 4x4 is the hub supposed to slide right off with nothing holding it on but the lug nuts and lire?


truck was equipped with fiber retaining gears and not steel gears. Poor-by-design by Ford. Various aftermarket parts suppliers have steel gears available, as learned when helping a friend with his F-150 4x4!

How do you replace a ignition modulel on a 1977 ford f150 m in the distributer


On the 1977 the ignition module is an aluminum box that should be mounted somewhere in the engine compartment. The ignition pick-up is mounted inside the distributor and you must remove the drive gear from the shaft in order to pull the shaft out and slide the pick-up off the hub of the distributor. This is not an easy job and most people try replacing the module first as it is usually the problem.

tran out of gear,pull back floormat,remove bolts on large cover.remove gear selector bolts.pull straight up and out.check the forks and see if damaged.you can move the gears around and find the trouble.This is the last year 89 that you can do this.

I have an 89 Ford F150 that is stuck in fourth gear. How do i get it out of gear?


Have you checked the fluid level. It is a common problem on the M50D manual transmission to run out of fluid and seize the input shaft and the mainshaft together. This causes it to be stuck in 4th. If this has happened you will need to replace or rebuild the transmission.

either that or the transmission also has another speed sensor located on the output drive of the transmission. it is a nylon gear usually held in by a single 10mm bolt. they can be tricky to remove because the unit is made of aluminum. carefully turn and pull once the bolt is removed, u will be looking for a slight curve on the nylon gear. if worn it will need to be replaced

Rear axle leaking


Block the front tires. Break the rear lugs loose. Jack up the rear of the truck at the center if possible. remove the wheels & brake drums. Remove the brake shoes,return springs & all the other hardware. Remove the differential cover & drain oil. If you have a posi the next step sucks. You need to remove the threaded pin from the housing & remove the axle retaining clips. All the while,being carefull of the spring in the posi unit. If no posi,then same procedure,minus the "pucker factor". After the axle is out,take a large flat blade screw driver or pry bar & pop the seal out. Keep in mind the axle bearing is probably gone too , so that's another procedure. Keep it apart,you'll be glad you did.
