Question about 2000 Nissan Maxima
#1 IM HAVING SOME PROBLEMS STARTING MY CAR... SOMETIMES IT STARTS RIGHT UP AND SOMETIMES IT DOESN'T START AT ALL. I WENT OUT AND BOUGHT A NEW STARTER AND HAD IT PUT IN AND ALL WAS WELL FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS THEN IT STARTED ACTING UP AGAIN. IT WOULD TRY TO CRANK AND NOTHING LIKE THERES NO POWER TO START IT
#2 THEN MY CAR IS SMOKING WHITE SMOKE FROM THE TAIL PIPES... I LOOK SOMETIMES AND IT'S LIKE A SMOKE BOMB BEHIND ME... THE SMOKE HAS A SWEET SMELL AND I WAS TOLD THAT IT IS ANTI FREEZE
#3 THEN MY CAR KEEPS OVER HEATING AND LEAKING FROM SOMEWHERE..... WHEN HAVING THE STARTER FIXED MY HUSBAND CHECKED UNDER THE CAR TO FIND THE LEAK AND HE FOUND OIL.... SO I SAID A OIL LEAK THEN... BUT ITS NOT A BAD LEAK WHERE IT IS DRIPPING ON THE GROUND YOU CAN JUST SEE IT AROUND THE PAN BUT EVERY 2 DAYS I HAVE TO PUT WATER IN THE RADIATOR AND ANTI FREEZE.... THERES A BIG LEAK SOMEWHERE AND WE CAN'T FIND IT.... COULD IT ACTUALLY BE THE OIL THAT IS LEAKING
I KNOW THIS IS ALOT OF QUESTIONS BUT I NEED HELP PLEASE... THIS IS MY FIRST CAR AND I WAS TOLD NISSAN MAXIMAS WERE REALLY GOOD CARS..... I MUST HAVE JUST PICKED A BAD ONE
My 05" maxima smokes after i start it, then stop smoking 15 sec.

For Nissan Maxima it can be several reasons:
1 Malfunctioning PCV valve. Small amounts of oil are coming into the combustion chamber and make a blue-white smoke. But you will smell the burning oil.
2. Most probably its a bad head gasket and maybe water pump gasket too. Thats why car overheats.
White smoke fom exhaust means that you are burning antifreeze. When the head gasket goes it will produce a passage for the antifreeze to pass from the capillaries into the combustion chamber. It is easy to check if you have an air compressor. Remove one of the rear sparkplugs and the radiator cap. Fill the radiator and then push some air into the sparkplug hole.Do it for all the cylinders and watch for air bubbles coming up into the radiator. If bubbles come up or fluid is pumped out, the head gasket is blown and must be replaced. Also check your oil for discoloration. If it is a brownish color it could mean your oil and antifreeze are mixing.

Your antifreese is leaking through the engine block The white smoke that you see coming out off the tail pipe is steam from heating up the antifreeze. This problem needs to be taken to a mechanic because your engine may have a blown head gasket or a cracked block. You keep having to fill it up with antifreeze because it is evaporating inside your engine block. Check your oil and see if the color is like a white milky liquid. If so then its definitely your head gasket. Try not to run the car to much like this because you will crack the engine. This is a pretty expensive job. You may want to consider a different vehicle because who knows what else will go wrong with this vehicle. I hope this helps you.

If the light is flashing than the anti-theft is activated. Try locking and unlocking the car with the door lock button on the drivers side. lock and unlock a minimum of three times until the light quits flashing. If the car has loaded up (smells like fuel when cranking) then pull the fuel pump fuse and hold the throttle all the way down when cranking to clear the cylinders, then replace fuse and repeat the procedure with the lock switch if the light is still flashing. It should fire right uo if the light is no longer flashing and the fuse (15 amp) is put back in.

I believe the line you are talking about is a vent line not a vacuum line. It should go tp a metal tube that is in a "U" shape. This bolts to one of the bolts on the transmission.

most likely you have a short in one of the bulb connectors or the hot wire from them is pinched on medal somewhere. Or you have water intrusion shorting one out. Inspect the bulbs. Leave both bulbs out. install fuse. Press brake pedal several times and hold. Inspect fuse. if its blown its the pedal switch that's bad or a pinched wire from there. If good put one bulb in. Test again,, then the next bulb. If you see something obvious fix it.

your dimmer switch is the proublem it is loose or just worn they wear even if you dont ever use the switch a common nissian proublem iv had the same issue

The engine and automatic transmission in this vehicles drive train are fully electronically controlled by a computer called the PCM (Power Train Control Module).
