The heater core is almost in the center of the vehicle inside the passenger compartment mounted on the firewall. I changed mine several years back and the more you take apart in the car the easier the job is. I removed the console and most of the lower part of the dash and the drivers seat to allow more room to lie on the floorboard on your back. If you are uncomfortable with taking a lot of stuff apart I would not attempt to do this job yourself. I think I had mine done in about 5 hours start to finish and i was using a 1/4 inch air ratchet and a cordless drill to speed up the work. If I remember correctly the hardest part of the job was hooking up the new heater core lines on the forward side of the firewall. hope this helps!!

Either your AC drain is clogged or the heater core is failing. Does your heat work well and blow hot air? If so, it's likely a clogged AC drain (although a bad heater core could be the issue). If it does not, your heater core is shot (replacement involves removal of the dashboard).

There is only one way the steam from the radiator could be coming in to the cab of the vehicle. That would be from the heater core, or the lines going to the heater core. If there is coolant/water leaking on that elbow on the firewall, it could either be that line that is leaking, or it could be leaking from the core and just dripping down to the elbow.
