Question about 2000 Toyota Corolla

Car starts with remote starter. The start procedure with key?

I just bought a 2000 ve, it has 86,000km on it, with an auto transmission. I have a remote starter which starts the car every time no problem, but when i try to use my key, the car wont let me. I have started it with the key a few times, i just done know the sequence of events im supposed to do. When i get the key into the start position, the interior lights flash on, and the cd player starts up, but the engine doesnt crank and there are no sounds from under the hood. When i have succesfully started the engine, the transmision was in park. I have read the manual, and tried what is has said, but the manual is in french, so i suspect i must be missing something crucial. Ive tried pressing the brake, pulling the e-brake, turning the steering wheel, turning on the lights, the rear defogger, the cigarette lighter, putting on my seatbelt. Everything i can think of, so if anyone knows my situation and a solution your help wuld be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The key i have is covered in hard black plastic (at the part i touch with my fingers). I wil try to remove the cover to see if there is a second key taped to the inside, if so, do i remove the second key?

Hey thanks for the help, i figured out the problem, there is a special sequence involved with the immobilizer key that i have to do to make it work.

If you find a second key, do not remove it.

Doing that will terminate the remote starter operation. The placement of the second key is critical.

Do you have an "immobilizer key"...The part on the key that you turn with your fingers would be big & thick, if you have an Immobilizer key. What I am thinking is your remote starter may be seeing a "second" key which would be taped to the immobilizer unit under the steering column. The second key is necessary to defeat the immobilizer system for the remote starter to work. Please advise what your key looks like, and, if you want, remove the cover that surrounds the ignition lock and see if there is indeed a second key taped inside that area.

That car together with the alarm, have a "starter kill"relay. The alarm works fine but when the relay is "resting" the electrical contact is no letting the appropriate signal go through. Locate the relay and change it. Will cost you 8 dollars or less in any auto part.

My auto start will start my car but when I turn the key on and press the brake to shift into drive it shuts down. Also will not start with the key. It is a 1994 Honda Accord

Do you have manual transmission? This issue may have something to do with that. Auto starters may signal that the ignition switch is faulty. Check the following link for info regarding this auto switch and how it interacts with the car in the event of an ignition switch use:

Need to remove the starter motor

Gather all of the fob remote car starters for your car, unless you only have one. Insert your key into the ignition turn it to the "On" position --- right before actually starting the car, the lights should turn on. Press and hold the "Lock" button on your fob remote car starter for one second. Turn your key to the "Off" position --- the car lights should turn off. Do this within five seconds of turning the key to the "On" position and don't remove the key once you've turned it to the "Off"...

My 2000 pontiac sunfire wont start when i turn the key. It just makes a continuous clicking noise for as long as I hold the key trying to start it. The. Starter had problems before but than it

first off does it have a remote starter hooked to it, if so disable it, my daughters car did the same thing till I took the remote out sometime the remote won't let you start manually in it is still engaged. next make sure all your connections are tight (battery ans starter, I bought a starter at a local parts store it was only acouple of months old for her car it started to do the same thing so I took it back and it failed their test ended up getting a new one. also check the rely located on the left fender wall it is marked starter it may be bad.

I have a 1997 oldsmobile 88. the car has been working fine since i bought it about a month ago from a friend of a friend he said it has never gave him problems only 2 owners. but the problem im having is...

Could be the saftey switch, try starting it in netrual. if that dosen't work, then it could also be the igntion switch. Did you try to bang on the starter while the key's in the start posistion? Sometimes this will 'jog' a worn-out starter. If you have a way to see if voltage is being sent to the starter solinoide would be a way to rule that out. good luck.

It is your starter... I've seen this problem happen a couple of times.
Go to parts source and ask them for a new one and put in the new one and it should be good to go!

It's located right in the left hand side of the engine bay right where the engine block ends and the transmission begins.

Good Luck!

Well, it sounds like your ignition switch is bad or the remote starter you have also has an alarm with a starter immobilizer. Do you have the owners manual to your remote starter? If not you can always remove the immobilizer part of the alarm by hooking the start wire back together from the ignition switch that is cut when you hook it up.

I cant start my car with the remote starter

You normally have to while the car is running transmition in neutral push the brake pedal, put the emergancy brake on, release the foot brake, press the remote start button on the remote, take keys out of ignition switch, car should stay running, get out, press the lock button on remote starter remote, car should shut off, and now is set
