How to replace manual fuel pump

Need advice on how to replace manual fuel pump on a 1986 ford f 250 3/4 ton 4x4 w/ 460 v8

    Thanks for the comment. I actually had to drain the radiator and remove the lower radiator hose, also drain the oil and remove the oil filter and then loosen the air conditioner compressor and pull it out of the way to get to the back bolt. The new replacement fuel pump had a slightly different body that made accessing the bolts with anything but an open end wrench nearly impossible.

Remove power steering pump for access if needed and remove fuel lines and return line remove two bolts holding pump and replace w/ new gasket.

Either the relay is bad, or you are not getting power to the relay, to energize the relay. Also check the ground.

Gettin ready to throw new pads on my 86 f250.


If it is a 1986 F250 it has rear drum brakes. Being a 3/4 ton the rear end could be a floater and that makes replacing the shoes a little more difficult.

Can't find the fuel filter


It is tucked into the frame rail under the cab section about mid door.

THE FUEL PUMPS ARE LOCATED IN THE TANKS THEMSELVES. I JUST WENT THROUGH A TRACE AND LOCATED ISSUE THAT AT FIRST LED ME TO BELIEVE I HAD LOST A FUEL PUMP. WHAT IS THE ILLNESS ON YOUR TRUCK?
