Hi, i have a problem with my 2000 e46. Tried opening my passenger window one day and the window opened slightly and since then has not worked. I have taken both door cards off and put my own 12v feed too both motors and both windows moves up and down with no issue. When i hold the drivers window switch too close, i can hear the motor working too close the window, but seems that is the only feed i have going too the windows. Also i have noticed that around the same time, the remote locking seems too have failed. All central locking works fine with the key manually in the lock and with the switch inside the car, just the remote locking has failed. Any help with this would be much appreciated. Thanks. Kelv

SOURCE: 2003 Jetta TDI - Door locks open fuel door

Look for a short in the wiring harness in the door. The wires from the door lead to the convenience module (controls the doors and windows and some other settings including remote fob) that is under the dash. It sounds like some wires are crossed. VWs are also notorious for having problems with window regulators. They make the windows go up and down and are in the doors. Something might have happen to that and it cause a short. VW just extended the warranty on the window regulators to seven years because of these problems so you should be able to take it to a dealer and not get charged (this is in the U.S. at least, don't know about the rest of the world). The extended warrranty was not limited to original owners but you might want to ask the service people about it first.

SOURCE: Central Locking not working

Hi Craig,
I'm running a E34 Tds Touring with a similar problem, my rear doors and tailgate have dropped of the central locking circuit.
I have been told it is the Central locking Module a large black box under the dash that is faulty, apparently a common problem.
Hope this points you in the right direction,
Please remember to rate my effort!

SOURCE: 1999 Audi A3 1.8T Electric Windows and Central Locking Won't work

will your passenger door open with the key and is it just one side that your windows are not working or both. if its just one side it might be your regulator motor in the door thats not working if its both it might be your central locking pump usually in the boot. however if both of them are working fine it could be that your key needs reprogrammed however i think the 1st 2 are more likely to be the problem.

SOURCE: no power in driver side door

I just fix the same problem :(
Two wires in harness were broke. Let me give you some instructions to fix this. 1- Remove the inside panel. then remove the conection that is in the middle betwen the door and the body of the car, is like black cover for the wires. In my case 2 of these wires were broke.
2- Remove the screws of the door in the frame then close the door and pull the door only a few inches just to have acces of your hand to pull the wires.
3- Add another piece of cable, to meke these cables longer, and put everything back.

Need to get a wiring diagram. Buy a book and follow the wiring schematic. It should help you out majorly. Can't really work on electrical issues without one.

Hi i have Cherokee sport 2001 and central door locks not working, at the same time all passenger windows cannot be open only i can open from driver side console. few days back all the door locks start

Try unplugging the passenger door module from the wiring harness. Module may be bad. I see one screw holding it with tabs at the other end. You should be able to pull it up without removing the door panel. I see there are modules online for less than $40.

The problem I think is in the fuses. There is a fuse for every electrical stuf and there is for the each door windows. Check wich one is and verfy if is burned.
For the unlocking problem check if you press two times fast the unlocking buton if that will open all doors. Try to turn the key right and hold it for at least 5 sec.
Between the plates lights have a small opening to insert the key and open the trunk.
Try all this. If you don't have a drawing with all fuses check internet.

Broken passenger door handle

Same problem. I have a 2000 Suzuki Esteem GL. A year ago the driver's door handle broke. Heard a sound and then it was loose. Could not open it from outside. Had to open front passenger door, open the driver's door from inside and then go out again to enter from the driver's door. FRUSTRATING. My mechanic had to take the door apart to fix it. Just a week ago, my front passenger door died on me. Can't open it from outside nor inside. The door won't open. This is such a stupid problem that costs lots to repair. Never will buy a Suzuki again. Had too many problems with it (had to fix gas tank, doors that won't open, front axle...).

2000 Grand Am SE 4-Door

This is only a possible solution to your problem. I had similar problem with my car. It turned out that the window locking toggle on the driver door not only prevented the other windows from being opened by passengers but also controlled the door locks. When I unlocked the window control I was able to unlock the door. Another possibility is the armature inside the door has come off the locking mechanism.
