Engine acts like it wants to start but doesnt battery is fine removed one of the spark plugs and tried to crank the engine and there is no fire from spark
V6 or V8 ? Both engines use a flat cap and standard rotor.
The coil is triggered by two modules, one inside the bottom of the dist and the other mounted on or near the coil. Any of these parts could fail.
You would check to see if all of the plug wires are dead, and if the coil and module has batt voltage with the key on. Also check to see if the coil will fire if not connected to the dist cap.

well, need to check fuel pressure, spark. Ignition module in distributors go out that is common

you need to check your fuel pressure could be not enough or to much or your plugs are fouled are you sure the timming did not jump how many miles are on it?

Check the wireing to the pump they had problems with it it tended to over heat and corroad there is a service bulliton on the prroblem #25215705and a kit with new wires and connector to resist over heating Icould give you the kit # but i got a DELPHI pump and the connector dosn;t fit a chevy pump

check by listening to see if your starter is clicking over the engine and if not then you might have to replace the starter. My starter went out on me and did not make a clicking noise that turned over the engine which told me the same problem that your having too. Ok if the engine cranks over just fine but wont start is a statement that is not true whatsoever so please explain which one is it thanks.

Start spraying the starter fluid on the throttle body when the engine is hot, then start and see.If it starts then its not fuel pressure issue but fuel pump issue.---------
And if fuel pump and pressure already checked ok then its problem with crank position sensor.
No starts when its warm indicate the Crank position sensor. If the sensor is bad, then the signal going to the ecu will show improper placement and won't allow the engine to crank ,because the location the cps says or doesn't say the crank is does not match what the computer thinks is OK and will prevent the car from cranking over or not starting when the magnetic element expands while the engine is warm.Get the crank position sensor checked and replaced.this will help.Thanks.Helpmech.
