The best way to obtain the axle ratio is as follows:

Examine the ring & pinion gears on each of the differential carrier.

Count the exact number of teeth on the ring gear

Count the exact number of teeth on the pinion gear

Now, with these two numbers, divide the number of teeth into the other...

Example: 50 teeth on the ring gear and 12 teeth on the pinion (drive) gear: 50 divided by 12 = 4.17; which would be the correct gear ratio. Please advise if this helps you out.

Thnaks for choosing FixYa to resolve your question.

Just jack it up and put a white mark on the wheel at the top ,now get yourself a nice long legged female assistant and get her to turn the wheel once and count how many times the prop goes around.Better not use a blonde as she might not be able to count or understand

Differetial locks for 94 land cruiser

91-97 Land Cruisers had a factory option for front and rear locking differentials. This is a seperate switch and is usually located to the left of US model Land Cruisers. The center dash button locks your transfer case differential changing your Land Cruiser from all wheel drive to four wheel drive depending if you have ABS or not this button either says ECT or Center Dif Lock. If you do not have the Front/Rear locking differential option then your Land Cruiser has open Front and Rear. Hope this answers your question.
