I have a Toyota 4 runner sr5 v6, it's not very good gas mileage. I have changed the air filter and spark plugs, but it is not any different.

Run a compression check on all the cylinders for excessive leakage. Check the timing marks with a timing light to see if the timing is correct. Test the map sensor and the oxygen sensors for proper operation.

Where are oxygen sensors in 2001 Toyoto 4 runner

The front O2 sensor which is actually an air/fuel ratio sensor is in the exhaust pipe just in front of the catalityc converter, the #2 sensor is in the pipe behind the converter, this for both 4 cylinder and V-6 engines.

2001 Toyota 4 Runner has Trac off vsc trac and check engine light on what can cause this

When the computer detects certain faults it will set the check engine light on along with the other lights you've explained. I've seen this on many toyota SUV's. Usually the codes set are oxygen sensor related. There really is no relation between the oxygen sensors and the traction control system but for some reason it disables it and sets the warning lights on. Have the computer scanned for codes at a shop or at a parts store such as autozone for free.

Engine light comes on when idling in heavy traffic on 1989 4 runner v6 engine

change fuel filter and add can of SEAFOAM to 1/2 tank of PREMIUM gas. I think we caught this early. take out oxy sensor and clean and re-install. This an early case of Ethanol gas syndrome. try it and get back to me.
