Question about 1991 Eagle Talon

Timing marks needed for '91 1.6L SOHC

No description of timing marks, or diagrams shown in the service manuals for my '91 stylus with 1.6 liter SOHC engine, and I need to completely reset my timing due to broken timing belt

    i need to find out how to retime the cam and belt for a 91 civic 1.6 plz i dont want to bend a valve:(

    I have an 89' CRX with 1.6L SOHC and the timing belt has lost teeth- thus it is essentially broken and needs to be replaced. When it actually died it was at idle, so I do not think that the cam moved much afterwards. None of the valves are even remotely close to being all the way open, so I think I avoided the problem of bent valves that is associated with broken timing belts on interference engines. How do I reset the timing without bending the valves? If I set the pistons to TDC then I will surely bend valves when resetting the cam to TDC. I think that this will also occur if I try setting it in the reverse order of what I just described. Help!!!

    My timing belt recently broke while driving around 100kph and now I have to make some changes. I am looking to put in a mazda 2.0 engine into my 1991 323, how difficult of an upgrade will this be?

2000 Mercury Mountaineer 4.0 liter V-6 SOHC VIN "E" and 4.0 liter SOHC V-6 VIN "X" and 4.0 liter SOHC V-6 VIN "K"

Firing Order: 1-4-2-5-3-6


2000 Mercury Mountaineer 5.0 liter SOHC V-8 VIN "P"

Firing Order: 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8

Is there 2 timing marks on each cam gears one is mark on the middle on the tooth and the other one on the side of the tooth 2001 dodge stratus 2.4 4 door?


Click on the following direct Free Link. It has the correct Timing Belt Diagrams, including the one for the 2.4L. Scroll down that Page to the Diagram with the 2.4L Camshaft Timing Marks. As you can see there is a 1/2 notch difference. There are also additional Diagrams that will be very useful to you. I've worked alot on the 2.4L and trying to line these up 'perfectly' can cause problems.
Note: That Link Page contains: the 2.4L SOHC, 2.4L DOHC, 2.7L DOHC, and the 3.0L SOHC Engine Diagrams.

Service manual doesn't show timing marks- need specs for marks on '91 stylus w/ 1.6L sohc


look in a different brand of repair manual. To name a few manuals there are Haynes, Chilton's, Motor Manuals, You might also try going to the dealership that deals with that brand of car.

Serpentine belt replacement


2.0L Engines
See Figures 11, 12 and 13
The accessory drive belt for 2.0L engines has no provision for manual belt adjustment, since these engines use an automatic belt tensioner. Drive belt slack is taken up by the automatic tensioner.
Movement of the automatic tensioner assembly during engine operation is not a sign of a malfunctioning tensioner. This movement is the tensioner self-adjusting and is required to maintain constant belt tension.
The belt tensioner has a belt length indicator. If the indicator marks are not between the MIN and MAX marks, the belt must be replaced.
